Really great hike especially on a snowy day. Highly recommend it but you might need chains to drive up to the trailhead

Most challenging hike I've ever done. I'm glad we did it in May on a cool day. I highly recommend it but be physically prepared for it because it's a lot of elevation.

Don't get fooled by the "short" mileage, this is the most challenging "sub-10" hike I've ever done. The climb up to the Laurel Dell picnic site is rough especially on a hot day. Make sure to pack a lot of water since there is no water fountain on the trail. Stocking Trail is a fully exposed fire road so I recommend you do this loop clockwise so you at least hike the last couple miles in the shade. We also saw a big rattle snake on Kent Trail a little bit before the Van Wyck creek.

Perfect hike for a hot day since the trail is shaded and runs next to the Patapsco river. We saw three deer, two red foxes, a bunch of ducks and squirrels and some type of crane (a great blue heron maybe?). Anyhow, way more wildlife than we thought we'd see for this one hour hike. Highly recommended it if you are in the area

Really underrated trail. There was only four cars parked at the trailhead and we saw no more than a half dozen people on the trail even though it was a sunny Saturday. The last mile is slightly different than the Alltrails Map, with more switchbacks closer to Camp Pomponio Rd. The last mile is completely exposed, can be rough on a hot day. Make sure to check yourself for ticks after the hike.

Really great views of Deaborn and Pescadero creek parks but the ridge side of the trail is not maintained at all. The trail doesn't see a lot of traffic so it's a poison oak nightmare, make sure to wear high socks and long sleeves.

Hiked this route on a weekday and it was mostly runners and bikers. The trailhead is conveniently located right next to a park and ride. If you are coming from San Francisco, you can take Golden Gate Transit bus 101 that stops on Spencer avenue, close to the park and ride.

Easy hike with nice views but the second loop is really poorly maintained.

Half the trail was closed for maintenance so we did String Lake to Moose Ponds and back. We saw a moose at Moose ponds, then two more moose on the west shore as we rode a 30 minute boat ride from the pier down from the visitor center. Pretty crowded trail though, we avoided the crowd by hiking the Jenny Lake road bike lane back to our car parked close to the String Lake trailhead. Good shortcut, we saw more wildlife there than on the trail itself.

We did this hike on a really windy day and it was an interesting/scary experience. We saw a tree fall 50 feet ahead of us. Had to manage 50+mph wind with two bison on the trail and high chance to meet a bear. Glad that it was only an hour.

Just did 6 miles out and back from the trailhead north of alum creek. There are plenty of parking spots across the four pullouts south of the Mary Mountain trailhead. Saw a dozen bison less than a 1/4 mile from the trail, and had to walk between three bison around mile 2. We did the hike in late May and the trail was really muddy (I nearly lost a shoe in mud) high winds around 30 miles per hour. Beautiful scenery but not a lot of animals besides the bison.

Great hike to see wildlife in the Mamoth area. we started the hike on the hot springs terrace side. The first two miles are covered so watch out for bears. Two groups ahead of us spotted a black bear but we didn't see it. Lot of wildlife sighting including a fox, deer, a lost deer calf :( and plenty of birds (geese, ducks, crows, osprey, robins and woodpeckers). No beavers though. Definetely worth the 2h.

Great 3h hike close to the West entrance right past the Madison junction. You can park in the pullout across the trailhead. Don't let the 2000ft of elevation scare you, it's really steady, no steep sections. Great views of the park after mile 1.2. Little to no wildlife on the trail but you might see bison in the prairie across the road.
