Nice little trail. Lots of snow, could have used snow shoes. Pulled the little kids in the sled most of the way except for the climb at the beginning. Took about 3 hrs but that was with lots of stops and 5 kids under 6years old to 4 adults. The older three kids (3,5 and 6years old) made it mostly under their own steam with just the occasional ride in the sled. Lookout was a fairly disappointing view, lots of tree growth since it was labeled a “viewpoint” I think. Nice views along the way though and a pleasant walk over all. I’d definitely go back in the fall, lots of poplars mixed in with the evergreens so it’s probably beautiful when the leaves change.

Great hike and awesome views from the top. Definitely worth the extra hike to the fire lookout station, incredible views! If you’re short on time just do the prairie view track (go counter-clockwise along the loop) then head back down the same way. The back half of the loop was alright but quite a bit longer and a lot of just walking through the trees. Jan 4, 2019 trail was good the whole way, lots of hard pack snow but hiking boots and poles were fine, a couple spots would have been nice to have crampons/spikes but nothing too slippery.
