Beautiful forest trail with lots of creek intersections. It is pretty steady uphill after the first mile and a half or so. Good workout! When you reach the first lake, you can continue on to the second lake by following the trail up for an extra 3/4 of a mile. Definitely worth it! The upper lake has a beautiful blue/green hue and is crystal clear. On a Saturday at 11:30, us and another couple were the only people up there. There’s plenty of parking in the lot but we didn’t pass many people on the trail at all. With the extra haul to the upper lake, this ran closer to 9ish miles for us.

Hiked Saturday, 8/4- got there at 12 and there were a few open parking spots. Fairly strenuous, mostly uphill. I clocked it at closer to a little over 9 miles total. The lake is crystal clear and huge. Very cool to see the sand too. I give this 3 stars because, for me, it didn’t compare to many other hikes I’ve done in this area (especially for the effort). Glad I did it but don’t necessarily feel the need to repeat this one.

My new favorite. Photos don’t do it justice. The beauty of this trail just cannot be put into words. Gorgeous wildflowers right now- three lakes on the hike but also lots of little ponds. Wear bug spray. Last three quarters of a mile or so are mostly uphill. We went on a Friday around noon and there were 3-4 parking spots open at the trailhead. Also saw 5 moose and some marmots. Will definitely be back!

7/8/18. One of my new faves. I should say - this hike is mostly uphill for the first 2.5-3 miles. We are from Boulder and in good shape and we nearly turned around but were so glad we didn’t! After all the uphill, you are treated to amazing open meadows filled with flowers and unbeatable, close-up views of the Rockies. The wildflowers were to die for right now. We hiked a little over 5 miles up to a big meadow/clearing(Eccles pass?) and then turned around. You could definitely keep going if you wanted. We were exhausted at the end but so glad we found this special place. I should also mention we got there around 10:15 on a Sunday morning and there were plenty of cars but we had no problem finding parking. Completed the hike in about 5 hours and that’s with a stop for lunch, snack, and lots of picture taking. Enjoy!

Hiked 6/8-gorgeous wildflowers right now. Trail is well-marked and easy to follow. Pretty flat until you get to the pool, then it’s mostly uphill from there. Definitely gets your heart pumping! But I’d still call this trail moderate because it’s not technically difficult. On the way up you pass a beautiful waterfall. The lake itself is stunning. I like this trail because it seems to get less traffic.

Nice hike in RMNP. Got there at 11 am on a Sunday and had to go park in the shuttle parking lot and take the shuttle to glacier gorge trailhead. Saw several elk. Plenty of people around but not overly crowded. You pass Alberta falls on the way up to the Loch and get plenty of good river and waterfall views along the way. The Loch was swarming with gnats when we got there, but it was beautiful.

6/1- beautiful moderate hike- probably on the east side of moderate. Features 3 waterfalls, with ouzel being the final one on the trail. We continued on toward Ouzel lake after the falls and were able to get above tree line with beautiful, close up views of the Rockies after about a half mile. We got there at 10:30 am and were able to park close to the trailhead. Plenty of people around but not crowded.

Hiked 5/25. This is a great trail going through a beautiful forest filled with aspen groves. Amazing views at the top! It’s pretty flat but there are definitely parts that are straight uphill that get your heart rate going. All in all, beautiful hike to do on the short side of things that also provides a good work out!

5/17- beautiful hike alongside a roaring river with some great waterfalls. Toward the lake, it’s still snowy but we did just fine in hiking boots without spikes. The lake is gorgeous! Definitely a new favorite hike of mine.
