Light snow in the shade but very hikeable in February. Combined with Raspberry for a nice two-fer.

A beautiful area, popular with snowmobilers, which limits the enjoyment for snowshoers like us, and the number of cross-country skiers we saw, but everyone was sharing the road on this busy Saturday.

Fabulous fall colors right now! Great for dogs. Took the Blackbear trail on the way back which was a lot steeper and narrower and had to help our little dog through several sections but great views. Also, please keep your dogs on leash people--I'd hate for the park service to restrict access to dogs because some people don't follow the rules.

Our new favorite! We had been to Long Lake before and it is pretty but Lake Isabelle is stunning! Took the Jean Lunning trail on the south side of Long Lake on the way back. Still lots of snow and mud. Dry on the north side trail. Good job to our fellow dog owners for keeping your dogs on leash and not leaving poop bags like is all too common on other trails.

Great day for a hike and a great trail with our new rescue dog. But more often than not the other dog owners had their dogs off leash which makes it really hard for a dog in training. I know you say your dog is friendly but there is a leash law for a reason. I can respect very well voice trained dogs off leash but 50 feet away from you in my dogs business is not well trained. Sorry to vent but this was the only negative to an otherwise wonderful day. Posting a picture of the rules from the trailhead sign in case you missed it.

Still too much slushy snow and water running down the trail for hiking. We went a 1/4 mile and turned back after another hiker said the water crossing at 3/4 miles was too deep. Once it dries out though it's a great trail from past experience.

Very nice hike. Had the falls all to ourselves for a brief moment before the Memorial Day crowds arrived. Many dogs, only a few of whom were leashed. We like dogs so not an issue for us but wish our fellow dog owners would follow the rules.

3-19-17 Many reports from those coming down of postholing in deep snow and difficulties finding the trail on the second mile to the summit so we turned around after a mile. Don't be deceived by the lack of snow at the trail head. Take your yak-traks.

Packed snow on the trail up to the high point with a view of Mt Evans. We used snowshoes but would also be navigable with boot tracks. Very windy but protected in the trees.

Wanted to try out our snowshoes--really wasn't enough snow but a nice walk anyway.

12-31 Snowshoe outing. Saw plenty of people in only hiking boots but it might be tough without snowshoes or tracks on the steep last half mile to the cascades. Mostly frozen and snow covered so not as impressive as in summer but still a great hike. The winter parking area adds a mile on to the hike each way. The restroom was open at the summer parking area though so that was nice.

Great trail except for the steep part up the left side of the first false summit which we nicknamed The Devil's Slide. Loose rock made that part miserable both going up and coming down. Agree that this seems longer than the stated mileage and at 4,700 feet elevation gain it's no walk in the park. Still, a beautiful hike if you can steel your mind past the false summits and there's nothing better than standing on the highest mountain in Colorado.

Well worth the stop from I-15. We were there in the morning and it was beautiful but I imagine it would be spectacular in the evening.
