Jazz Robertson reviewed Sky Pond via Glacier Gorge Trail

Gorgeous trail, did this for our anniversary. It’s definitely more of a moderate hike. The elevation gain is so gradual up until the waterfall, we were able to power walk the whole thing with very little, short stops.

The waterfall wasn’t nearly bad as I thought, either. The scramble up is intimidating to look at, but just watch your step and wear good shoes and it’s totally manageable- There are practically stairs leading up the whole thing, nothing too precarious. I’m terrified of heights and only had one minor freak out LOL. For real though, not nearly as bad as you’d think, and the climb down was even easier. SO SO WORTH IT. This trail was gorgeous, and the colors have just began to change. Waterfalls, lakes, the river, forest and high elevation views. This trail has it all.

Beautiful trail! Completed on 7/4. This is an annual must for us. The waters are currently full, flowers in bloom, and all snow is melted. Just be sure to bring bug spray for the lake!!! I always forget and I always regret it!

Beautiful trail. Still pretty dry but I’m looking forward to going back this summer. Didn’t go all the way to the creek because we weren’t really up for the steep climb back, but there is a very pretty overlook just before heading into the canyon. You can see the snow capped peaks and it’s very beautiful.

I was thoroughly surprised with how much I enjoyed this trail. It was much more difficult than I anticipated, you’ll definitely get your heart rate up. But it’s worth the climb. It’s very rocky most of the trail which my pup and I loved, but I did notice a couple older ones who struggled climbing a bit in some steep spots.

3/2/18- I was really impressed with this trail. I normally shy away from trails so close to the city, because there’s just too many people. But today was surprisingly mellow. Great views of the city, then on the other side you have great views of the mountains (will post pics). A few things:
    1) We had to go up Gregory and down Flagstaff (reverse direction from map) because I couldn’t find the flagstaff trailhead. The trailhead is actually on the main road, across from the stop sign. Turn into the little parking area, then walk back down to the entrance stop sign. You’ll see the trailhead there. Gregory’s trailhead is by the roundabout (opposite end).
    2) That said! The most icy stretch is on the Gregory Canyon trail. This worked for us because I prefer to go up the ice patches then down on solid ground. So if that is you, go clockwise on the trail!! Very brief stretches of ice, and some parts are fairly steep. But I made it fine with regular hiking boots. Flagstaff was dry, just be prepared for mud.

Definitely a very beautiful trail. We did this last weekend, we were very concerned about the huge crowds, but the second we veered off onto this more difficult trail people disappeared. We went clockwise- much more difficult. The ONLY complaint I have is that it is not listed anywhere that only part of the trail allows dogs. We got several miles in with our pup, the Green Mountain trail will suddenly fork- one takes you up to the summit, one back down the mountain. The trail up to the summit had a strict no dog policy, automatic summons, due to conservation efforts. That’s the only reason I give 4 stars, it was a huge bummer getting several miles in only to find out we just had to go back down the mountain. Cuts out maybe a mile and a half of trail.

I think Sam Waters got lost on the way to the trailhead. The trail is stunning. Multiple waterfalls, crystal blue lake, gorgeous fall colors this time of year. And pending on your fitness level it can be a good workout for you. We do this trail several times each year, highly recommend!

**No park entry fee** We decided to turn back about half way through the trail, but we saw enough for a 5 star. The smoke from the NW fires have really taken over the mountain, the haze limited visibility to maybe a half mile out (which is a real bummer on a hike focused on long distance views). Couple that with large gusts of wind the higher we went, we decided to turn back and come back a different day when the views are more favorable. I can deal with difficult weather if I'm still able to experience the views. There were several hikers we saw continue on past the half way point but I would recommend saving the trip for when the smoke has cleared up. Can't wait to go back!!

Stunning as always. Bring bug spray!! Not a good trail for beginners, it's a little on the high moderate-strenuous side in several spots. Also bring a hoodie for the lake, it can get pretty cold and windy but it's SO WORTH IT!!

Always such a gorgeous hike. There's still lots of flowers, and there was even a small herd of moose by one of the ponds!! I heard there were 11 at one point, but I personally saw 5- including two babies! I also ran into two young buck and a doe, and as always tons and tons of marmot. So so glad I went. The whole trail is very rocky, just as an FYI!

Absolutely gorgeous, as usual! This week and next is the perfect time to go with the wild flowers in bloom. Water is high, trail is wet from runoff, and the lake is beautiful. BRING BUG SPRAY!!! Those mosquitos are just as excited about the water!

Absolutely gorgeous. Hardly any snow, regular hiking boot will do just fine. The waters are full, views still snow capped, and I would go in the next 1-2 weeks- the flowers are just beginning to bloom. Will most definitely be doing this one again!

A good amount of runoff is trickling down the trail still, and several streams crossing the path. I'd highly recommend waterproof shoes but you could probably get by without them. No snow at the bottom of the trail but the final mile has a fair amount. Nothing terribly deep, it's mostly packed down, but enough to lose the trail. I went a little later in the day and was able to follow the footprints no problem to stay on trail, but use your map if you plan on going early. I unfortunately got blown out by a massive thunderstorm just shy of the lake so I didn't get to see it, but I hear the snow cleared up and the lake was still beautifully frozen!

Did this trail a few weeks ago. It was pretty, very easy hike. The end view was a little disappointing mostly because there are some trees obstructing the view, but you can still get some great pictures around them.

This one fell between a 3 and 4 star for me. The first .5-.75 miles is all just a big dirt road. It's much prettier once you get to the off leash area. I would definitely rate this an easy trail though. The only reason we lagged a bit was because the first chunk of the trail was in direct, no shade, sunlight. Otherwise it's still a pretty hike, would be great for a beginner or someone just visiting Colorado.

Jazz Robertson reviewed Evergreen Mountain Trail

I would definitely wait till later in the summer for this one.. There isn't much to look at for majority of the trail, and the surrounding forest is still all dead trees. Otherwise, this is a very mellow trail, great for beginners. My pup and I went on a Tuesday and literally saw no one the entire trail! You're too close to the road to drown out the noise, though, so if you're looking for a tucked away Colorado gem, this probably isn't the best pick. Best for a more casual day stroll with a pretty summit view.

This is a 4.5/5 for me. the scenery was beautiful, nice wide shot of the snow capped mountains at the summit. And a decent workout for such a short trail. (We went clockwise and it was more of a workout than counter would have been.) Only reason it's not a 5 star is its too close to the highway. It was low, but you could still hear hums from the highway, and a large road suddenly appears down below once you hit the summit. Wasn't as secluded as i normally would like but it was quiet enough we'd go again.

We went early April and it was beautiful! Definitely make the trip up to Windy Peak, it was the highlight of the trail. No snow on the trail.

Very short, moderate in difficulty (though I swear there was more elevation gain than listed in the description). The views at the top, though, are stunning. It made it worth our time for such a short trail!
