This side of the park is much less visited. This trail was a bit overgrown, but that was welcome considering how worn the main area is. A bridge midway through the loop is out (has been for a while) and impassable. The loop is short enough you can make two out-and-backs to cover the whole loop.

Quite crowded, I usually like solitude, but not here on a Sunday even with a 6am start. Not much to look at up the fire road, one good water fall. Views were big as expected, unfortunately hazy this day.

Took the small detour to Mt Harwood. Rocky ascent and hard to follow trail back, but it was a good break from the crowd and had a similar view. I'm glad I did, but if you're already at your limit getting to the Baldy peak, don't bother.

From above "When you're at Baldy Notch, ... DO NOT take the far left path. That will take you to the foot of the Turkeyshoot ski run. ... your legs will never forgive you for going up that run. " -- Oops, from the Notch it looks like the easier path, but definitely got steep.

Coming down Baldy Bowl, poles make a HUGE difference. I was probably 2x the speed and confidence vs not having poles.

Great family hike. Some challenging bits for the shorties to build some confidence on (the trip back was WAY more efficient than the way out). Falls aren't too impressive, but would be a plesent break pt if it's not too crowded.
We got in between crowds, pretty busy on the way back. Good number of dogs and "young groups". For a family trail, please keep even great dogs on leashes, unleashed dogs freak out children. And leave the bluetooth speaker at home, bring headphones instead, I don't want to listen to your music on my nature visit.

Great hike has a little of everything. Easy creek crossings and light scramble in the first miles. Well worn dirt path you can jog in the middle. Good camping area at the saddle. Some trickier rock slid sections of switchback. Mildly steep climb near the peak for a final challenge. Mostly canopied.
My view wasn't great due to complete marine layer, but made for great "above the clouds" shots and kept temps down. I clocked at 11.9mi, but had to park on Mt Baldy road as the trail head parking was closed for construction staging. 6H49M of moving time plus about 20min break at peak, but was hustling to make other obligations.
