The trail was completely covered with hard pack snow all the way to lower Red Pine. It got a little soft up to the upper lakes but manageable with cleats. The accent all the way to the saddle was steep and sketchy as there were only a few tracks to help stabilize your feet. Still an absolutely beautiful day to be on the trail. All lakes are still frozen over of course but the Ridgelines look amazing under snow. Keep trekking

Beautiful day to summit Olympus. The trail got a little icy around 2.5 miles, so spikes helped for sure. I would suggest hitting the trail early while the snow is still icy to avoid the slush. The trail is well broken all the way to the summit. Beautiful sunrise from the top and many friendly and respectful hikers met on my way down. Keep trekking!

The only reason it get 4 stars instead of 5 is because I couldn’t make it to the lake due to the snow conditions. Just to early in the season to expect to make it to Gore Lake. Regardless, this was a beautiful hike. I had to start cutting my own trail after about 2 miles, so be prepared with snowshoes if you plan to get very far. I can’t wait to be back in late summer to attempt getting to the lake again. The views across the valley are breathtaking. Very impressed with my first hike in CO.

What an amazing trip up to Blanche today. The trail is hard packed all the way to the top. Snow shoes not needed to the lake but spikes are highly recommended. The sun was out and no wind. Even lugged up some ice fishing gear and landed 5 browns in only 20 min. Nothing above 10”. The action is fast due to lack of food right now I’m sure. The ice was about 4 feet deep and plenty safe. We head lumped early, but the trail was busy on our way down. Everyone was really respectful and nice and I was glad to see many people enjoying the amazing day. Happy trekking

The trail is hard packed all the way to the falls. Spikes come in handy for the final accent. Really cool icicles on the falls right now.

Such a great morning to be on Grandeur. This was my first time up the backside and it was nice and gradual compared to the steep climbs on the valley face. Lots of friendly people on the trail and the dog owners were very respectful (much appreciated). I used spikes for the last 1/4 mile, more just to use them as I lugged them up there, and are not necessary but helpful. Arrived at the summit 10 min before sunrise for some great pics of the sun peaking it's head out. Great views

The headlamp hike to Jacks Mt last weekend was good. I love the tributes at the summit. Heart warming stuff. I decided to proceed to the to the ridge line behind to the east. WORST MILE EVER. I ran out of deer trails altogether and found out that rocks are hard and shins are softer. My own mistake. Socked in at the top so no payoff. I'll turn around after summiting Jacks next time.
