We hiked this trail in January and it had snowed the last week. We hoped that the snow would have melted by then but it was all there. We were not prepared to hike in snow but going up was so much fun and we did it. It was crazy and the rock at the top is challenging to climb to. The real challenge was coming down, and we struggled. I fell at least 20times and was just wanted to make it back safely, hence it took me almost 5 hours to finish the trail. The steps in the trail were icy and there was no easy way to climb down except for sliding down. Don't make the mistake of climbing this trail in without spikes in winters. It was fun but I realize that it was mostly stupid. I must say it looked beautiful with snow.

The views from the top of the mountain makes this hike totally worth the effort. I have never seen better views than this. We even saw an Elk, what more could one ask for. Near the top it becomes wide open and hence very windy, so attention must be paid while coming down. It had very light traffic, we just met to couples. Hence you really get the opportunity to enjoy! Mostly it was shady, always carry a light jacket as wind up there was cold even in May.

Very easy trail with spectacular views, of forest, cliff dwellings, Rio Grande River and a peak into the Anasazi era! It requires climbing ladders, so wear proper shoes!

Climbing the 4 set of ladders was so much fun, it might look challenging but you will be so lost in the beautiful views that you wont realize that its tough at all. Bad news was the path leading to Alcove house cliff - it was pure white sand, and sand is not the easiest thing to walk on, i think after the flooding, the original trail was never restored!

I plan to complete this trail sometime soon as i had to turn back mid-way as it was getting dark. Loved the trail, its challenging and rocky, just what i love! Returning back was fun due to downhill run!

Very nice trail for easy running! It has paved path for bicyclists but you can run along the water channel too.

This is an awesome trail for running, its little challenging only if you try to jog, providing perfect cardiac workout. There are a lot of cyclists, which can be annoying at times. Coming back to parking lot is fun and super easy as the slight slope downwards make you feel like a bird! Parking is free, so one can go there almost everyday!

Perfect place for bird watching, i have never seen so many birds together at one place. We visited in the evening and it was absolutely beautiful. However the big industrial plants on the side is an eye-sore. And wash rooms were locked!!

If you decide to go all the way up to the Crest Trail, this trail is very difficult. First 1 hour is very easy but as you keep on going further, it becomes steep and tough. There are alot of fallen rees, which you have to jump/crawl and while coming down, be careful as there are some spots with loose gravel. Being from San Antonio, where trails are extremely easy, this was my first hiking in Albuquerque and i found it very challenging trail. So, if you are a beginner or just moved from a place with easy trails, try not to conquer this trail in first attempt. Well, the views were awesome and this was the most natural trail i have ever been to. It gets little chillier towards the top during to cold wind gusts, so be prepared. And carry plenty of gatorade/energy drinks and water.
