We did a loop around the lake. Saw a bear... I ran away screaming, my girlfriend (at the time) walked toward him to take a picture (I’ll post it)... we’re married now, so apparently that’s not a deal breaker. - we were going to climb something, but we were both too hung over. Maybe we really just saw a dog... who knows? Five stars for the company, but the trail only gets 3 for the reasons others have listed (not a loop, on a road, cars not hiker friendly, scary bears).

Did this in May 2016 and got the offer for my current job when we got cell service at the lookout. Also became my profile pic with my vacation beard and mt hood in the background... none of which you care about. - Amazing hike. Camped out two nights and did lots of side trip exploring. The peek-a-boo views of mt hood are beautiful. Lots to love... enjoy it! *we did cut over to hunchback and the fire lookout at devils peak to make it a loop.

First hike my bride and I did on our honeymoon. If kias could speak we’d be in trouble! We did it in December and had some snow patches to deal with. We had no real gear other than trecking poles and guts, but we made it, despite a ranger turning back because they didn’t have an ice axe. The views at the top were everything! Our favorite honeymoon hike. If we have a kid we’ve agreed to name it Gertrude, regardless of its sex.

Yup, I can verify this one is ruthlessly straight up, except for that one patch that leveled out a bit... just kidding. I did it on my honeymoon nine months ago, and we’re still married, so there’s that! It was actually one of our favorites. Second only to Gertrude’s saddle for the hikes we did on South Island.

I’m giving myself 5 starts just for completing this. I thought I was in shape, but I’m not in Colorado mountain goat shape. Props to the hoards that blew by me all day long. - my first 14er... I hear that’s a thing.

Great hike with sweet lakes at the top. Did it in late June... just beautiful and not too crowded.

Most fun trail and NP I’ve been to, and I’ve been to well over a dozen National Parks. Lots of people, but it thins out as the timid start to turn back. Do it!

Good workout, the up is steady as depicted, the gradual shallow towards the top is nice after the steep first 2/3 rds. The trail is easy to follow. At the junction with the sign, turn to the right (facing the sign) and the trail is back behind you across the road. There’s no clear summit that I could find, but a little off trail towards hood at the top affords great views of hood and adams if it’s clear. Only saw 5 people in 3 hours on a Tuesday morning in July, two of them were mountain bikers coming downhill. Oh, and I saw a deer on the trail. Enjoy!

All down (or up) depending on direction. Painful down to end a 15 mile day... Not much to look at.

Hiked 10.1 miles from lodge pole campground to ranger lake. Spent one night there, then continued on to Roswell meadow and then jo pass. - the hike from lodge pole to ranger lake was challenging, with a lot of "up" and a somewhat difficult trail to maintain after sillman pass down into the Ranger lake area... But it was totally worth it. We had the entire place to ourselves and only saw 5 people on the various trails in our three day trek. We did it in first week of June... Didn't see a single bear even deer.
