Jared Ellis reviewed Red Rock Scenic Byway

As a road biking route I found it unpleasant. The bike lane skirting close a busy State Route beyond the Village of Oak Creek.

As a scenic driving route it's decently scenic but AZ89A Oak Creek Canyon the more scenic drive for sure.

Mostly a rock climbing site but an interesting place to hike as well. Hiking involves scrambling over car-sized rocks, jumping from rock to rock kinda stuff. There are some petroglyphs, a number of caves to explore and usually some wildlife along the river (usually just pools of water at this point rather than a river)

The very best of the best views in Prescott.
The trail terminates at the boat dock for road bikers, but connects up nicely to the Peavine and Iron King trails.

The first 9 miles are suitable for road bikes as it's a paved pathway.

Top notch views, short but sweet!

The best cycling path in Pheonix/metro in my opinion. Slower pacing around the lake due to it's popularity but as soon as you get north of the lake you can open up on the peddles. The path skirts along three long and skinny golf courses and several parks for something interesting to look at for the duration of the ride.

90% of the trail opts to go under the roads rather than making you use the cross-walk so better flow to it, less stopping than the canal rides.

Connects to "Grand Canal" and "Arizona Canal".

This route is unpredictable. Most of the time it's a lazy, easy-going float that takes about 3-4 hours, but during Arizona's monsoon season the flow rate deforms the terrain and topples trees allowing potential for some gnarly encounters along the way.

100cfs = potential for portaging, long trip times (minimal flow rate IMO)
    200-400cfs = optimal
400 + = gets you above most of the rocks and stuff but potential to get whipped around.
