Jane Kim reviewed Ice Lake Basin Trail

I LOVE THIS HIKE! The first time I did it was a few years ago for 4th of July, and unfortunately the lake was iced over, but the plants were in full bloom and so pretty! The second time was this year for labor day and The lake was amazing and there was no snow, however all the plants were dying. I would recommend doing this hike early August to mid August. This hike literally has all four seasons. It was sunny to start and then rained and snowed all in one hike lol. The hike isn't too bad as far as toughness but it will have your heart going. We also hiked to island lake and it was a lot closer than expected, it isn't too far from ice lake. I highly recommend just pushing a little further. There is just so much to see on this hike.
As far a the road getting there it isn't bad, you don't need a 4WD unlike other hikes in this area.

Jane Kim reviewed Mount Democrat via Kite Lake Trail

Left Denver around 6 and got to the trailhead around 7:50. The drive up to the trailhead wasn't bad. I have a 2wd and it made it pretty much to the top. The trail is like a typical 14er straight incline. Try to keep a consistent pace and you should make it up in no time! The trail was a pretty busy so I would suggest getting there early. I was able to do Mt. Democrat and Mt Cameron and the views were beautiful! The weather was perfect, not one cloud in the sky!

Jane Kim reviewed Sky Pond via Glacier Gorge Trail

This was the 3rd time I've done this hike and every time I just admire this hike even more. You can start at the glacier gorge trail head or bear lake trail head. I would recommend starting early since the lots get filled up very quickly! Starting at bear lake made the hike to sky pond 10 miles. It's a really pretty hike, you pass waterfalls, rivers, and lakes along the way. Honestly it is a 3 in 1 hike. I don't think the hike itself is hard but it is long. There is a section where you have to hike against water, definitely take your time and watch your step. You will love it!!!

p.s. I have notice how busy these trails have gotten it would be great to stay on trail and take any trash you brought in with you. These are amazing places so lets keep it that way and respect nature.

I did this hike last year and again last week. It is definitely a tough one! It is incline pretty much the whole way with switch backs as soon as you get closer to the top. We were able to go a steady pace and not take as many breaks.Make sure you veer right when you hit a fork in the trail. I recommend packing a lot of water/food and start early, it gets pretty hot. The drive to the trailhead was nicely paved. It was nice not running into a person every 10 minutes, The trail isn't too busy.

Jane Kim reviewed Chihuahua Gulch Trail

I did this hike twice last year. The first time I got a little lost and veered right onto a different trail that goes toward gray's peak. The second time I didn't veer right and stayed left on the trail and there was the chihuahua gulch sign. The water was so blue and breath taking!! I highly recommend this hike to anyone. I will say if hiking sandals are your thing, this hike is perfect for them. You cross the river a few times. The road up was a little rocky but my car made it up(not 4wd).

Super pretty and worth it! The lake is turquoise!! The views are amazing the whole hike up. You do have to hike through rivers so be prepared. The trail splits so stay to the left the whole way and you should see the chihuahua sign. Not that hard. I'd say moderate since there's a lot of flats
