Fantastic hike, and great views at the peak. Though, as many others have said: that last quarter/half mile is not easy in the least. Very high grade with a small amount of places to stop to catch one's breath.

Other than that, it's a fantastic trail.

Nice and easy hike, couple of slightly steep spots, but a great hike for beginners. The views at the summit are more than worth the effort put into the hike, though bring a jacket as it can get pretty chilly up there!

Awesome views for not a lot of effort. We headed right at the trailhead and went around the loop the long way. Though it's longer, the steepness of the trail (in our opinion) makes it a lot easier to do. On the way back from the summit, however, is a different story (filled with aching knees and ankles). The summit itself was gorgeous, and the views were impeccable. There is another off-shoot summit that you can visit as well that might not be as populated (the views were actually better there, imo).

Really gorgeous during the summer, though a bit tough to find initially. We started at the South River Falls Trailhead, took a right on the AT and then a left onto the forest service road. From there, it's fairly easy to follow. Not too many steep areas or difficult terrain, though parts of the trail are fairly overgrown. We did see a fair amount of bear droppings, and from what we saw/read, the trail is good for seeing wildlife. Overall, it's an easy hike, and a good way to spend the afternoon.
