Great short hike. Took us about 2 hours roundtrip with a 15 minute stop at the top. Very constant incline all the way up with the hardest part last. Nothing difficult, but a good thigh burner. Great views of Horsetooth Reservoir. Unfortunately, doesn't give views of any of the western peaks. Lots of amazing trails all around for running or biking too! Excellent trail marking and maintenence, no maps needed.

7/3. Arrived at the trailhead at 7:15am and the parking lot was already full (just a heads up to those looking to do this hike). We parked on the East side of Brainard Lake, which added a very easy .9 miles to the hike. I would actually recommend doing this. Great little section to warm up with. Also, 6 moose were hanging out near the lake, so that made it all the better.

The whole trip was amazing! Rivers to cross, snow to get through, and incredible views the entire way. The lake was still half covered in ice and the trail to the upper lake was hidden by snow, although a few people with crampons looked to be trying it anyway. We also saw a small family of yellow-bellied marmots on the north side of the lower blue lake.

Easy and quick hike right next to the campground. Great view for the sunset before heading back into the tent for the night.

Did most of this trail on Easter and it was virtually empty besides our group. Absolutely stunning views of the reserve! Definitely didn't expect to be going through a canyon in Oklahoma. The boulder field towards the end was tricky and took some fairly difficult navigating, but it was a blast! Next time, we'll make sure to finish it up and summit on the adjacent trail.

Beautiful scenery and a very easy/family friendly hike. They even have several benches along the way in case you need to take a break. We will definitely be back sometime to finish exploring the cave at the end. A few drawbacks though: The first half of the hike is a packed gravel trail and there were even some concrete stairs towards the end. Made it feel very artificial to me and took away from the natural beauty of the place. Also, we went in Mid-April, and the creek and waterfalls were almost 100% dry. Hopefully it was just a bad week to be there.

Gorgeous hike with a lot of great "distractions" on the way to the end. I would call it a very easy and family friendly hike. There is a small incline at the beginning/end, but nothing to put you off of making the journey. It is a rather rough and long drive in and out to the trailhead though. Highly recommend a 4-Wheel Drive vehicle (especially if it rained recently), but it isn't needed. We made it through with a few smaller front-wheel drive cars.

Fairly strenuous hike. Lots of fun climbing the dunes of varying grades. And the lake at the end is gorgeous! Very cold water year-round though, so be prepared for that if you plan on using it to refresh after a potentially very hot hike.
