This was an amazing hike. The drive to get there is a 4x4 road that will rattle you for 16 miles. Once at the trailhead the hike itself is not very technical, but still very challenging. The altitude will sneak up on you, so be careful and hydrate up. Highly recommended to those who are looking to bag their first 14er.

Follow this loop to amazing views of the Monterey Peninsula and Camel Valley. A quick warm-up leads you into a continuous climb until the top. Several trails will lead you up, so pick which one you like on either AllTrails, or stop at the visitor center to reference a map of the park. Find a trail that will take you to Sky trail then follow that until you reach Snivley's Ridge. Follow Snivley's Ridge as it heads west along the ridge line towards Pinyon Peak, and the old fire lookout tower. Once at the tower, enjoy a snack on one of the picnic benches provided before beginning your decent back towards the valley below.

This is a great hike. Plan on a fair amount of elevation gain. The trail names don't all match up, but follow the map and you'll get there. If you can, follow it to the old Fire Tower and grab a snack on the benches.
