Easily accessible from Hwy 411 behind the Gadsden Mall. Look for the signs. Easy walk and great views of water and nature. Most of trail is hard packed dirt/stone. You can take the boardwalk out into the lake to get to a natural area where the path is not as easy and has natural impediments.

The Black Creek Trail system is in great shape. Signage is now out on the trails at intersections and beginning and ending points. You can also pick up a map at the Campground office or at Greater Gadsden Area Tourism Visitors Center.

The Black Creek Trail is a dynamic trail that is being improved on by the City of Gadsden. The trail itself is 1.7 miles long and made of crushed stone. Six feet wide. It is an out and back trail. Starts at the Wedding Chapel at Noccalula Falls Campground. It winds down along Black Creek to Black Creek Rd. You can access it at this end as well and walk up to the Chapel. You can park at the Etowah Rescue Squad building if you access the trail at this end. This trail has several overlooks with benches, etc and is wheelchair accessible.

The City of Gadsden in Fall 2013 constructed about 4 miles of inter-connecting multi-use trails suitable for mountain biking, hiking, trail-running, etc. These trails are not wheelchair accessible. You can access these trails from several places on the Black Creek Trail. They currently don't have names or signage, but that is being addressed at this time and over the next few months we should see this situation change.

Noccalula Falls Campground offers a great location to spend a few days while exploring the trails. Coldwater Mountain is about 40 minutes away and Oak Mountain is about 75 minutes away if you would like a couple other great hikes/bikes.
