Always a favorite at Shenandoah National park. It is a very easy trail to a beautiful rocky outlook with a few viewpoints. Easy grade. There is a great educational pamphlet you can get for $1 at the base of the hike, it has numbered spots and a bit of trail history and education. This hike is right at skyland’s entrance and is walkable from the cabins and to the restaurant. This hike is lovely all times of the year. Keep an eye on little ones near the rocky outcroppings.

You need to go off the trail to see the falls views which begin after you cross the stream. But this is a lovely quick easy hike on a fire road. Park in the lot at 9.2 on the west side of skyline drive, trail starts at the fire road at the south side of the lot. Well shaded hike. I would recommend going in Spring or after a lot of rain. The falls can dry up in later summer.

There is a circuit loop from Right around mile 38, park on the west side of the drive, use the trail map, it is a fantastic loop approximately 5 miles or so. Down Corbin cutoff road is directly across the drive from the parking, and then connecting to Nicholson Hollow trail down by the cabin, bring water shoes or a towel and walk across the creek (there are three larger creek crossings in this circuit. ) we did it barefoot, pants rolled up and had a towel. Either way is very steep leaving. If you take the Corbin Cutoff road on the way down. You will see blue blazes. This is a beautiful hike. To leave take the Nicholson Hollow trail up towards Skyline Drive, turn left cross the drive and take the AT back to the parking area, (keep right at the first trail post and make a right at the next trail/path crossing (follow the white blaze this last time) .adds almost another mile but gives you beautiful views and is safer than walking in Skyline Drive. Takes 3-3.5 hours (including a break)

Not for kids. Amazing trail and hike. Get there extremely early, lot fills, bring a Ton of water, then an extra bottle for good measure. When you get to the Rock Scramble you really cant turn back. Be prepared to shimmy up, and down in crevasses. There were four of us who did this together.
Don’t attempt if raining/snowy or Icy, could be dangerous. Keep an eye out for Rattlesnakes on the weekly Hollow fire road, they blend in with the gravel. Best to do in a group. Not for the unskilled hikers . Took us 6 hours from the parking area to complete. May take longer. Generally they say 6-8 hours.
Generally considered the most dangerous hike in the park. A pair of weight lifting gloves would help protect your hands. They can get quite cut up.
