I love this hike. It is well maintained and busy. I was able to go alone a couple times but felt very safe. There are people from all ages and walks of life. A total melting pot. New moms with their babies, teens, couples, groups, and even seniors. There are a few porta-potties on the trails as well as benches for those needing some rest. Great views and 5 miles of gorgeous hills.

I stopped here on my way home to Nevada County. I went in blind and wish I had my backpack so my hands weren't full as I trekked up the steep incline. Nothing impossible but a slight challenge with items in both hands. I eventually took the side roads opposed to the steep incline. Hit a T in the road with signs but wasn't sure which way to go to return to my car so I turned around and took the side roads down. I felt safe and it was such a gorgeous hike up. Other hikers were friendly and ranged from families with young children to some senior citizens. There were a lot of mountain bikers up there too. I will definitely do this again with free hands and take that incline to the top!

This trail is such great and scenic. It is not strenuous or difficult. I have gone a few times now and those with whom I have trailed range in age from 13 to 45 and one was 5 months pregnant. We took our dogs, on leashes, and enjoyed a great walk. other visitors we passed were all friendly and leashed their dogs as well. The trail is clean and the bridges are well maintained. The one bridge down to the water (approx a 30 minite walk in) looks like it is in the process of being surveyed for repairs and we're looking forward to visiting once it is secured to go down to the water. There are 2 toilets at the beginning of the hike. parking is easy, provided people are courteous and park perpendicular to hwy 48 rather than paralell.
Take water and snacks and a camera!

hit the trails to kick off 2018. this was my first time there and I'm very happy my cousin introduced us to it. It was pretty steady with hikers and cyclists. Can't wait to go again.

We drove thru Crater Lake on our way home from Salem. the trail was easy to walk through and was clearly marked. there was a guided tour that began at 2:00 pm, but we just took the trail on our own. there really was no reason to have a tour guide. The water fall was gorgeous. We walked it with our 3 teenagers. The butterflies were fun to photograph.

Hubby and I were looking for a spot to do our run and enjoy our detour through Yosemite. This trail was ideal. We parked at the lodge and took off across the road and cut thru the gold course. We found the trail and enjoyed a picturesque run. the road was a mixture of pavement, sand, rock, and dirt. slight inclines but nothing strenuous. It was 3.6 miles and we were thru it in 45 minutes. The trail would be perfect for our children to join in next time.
