I would agree with other recommendations to take the shuttle - it was super easy to access the trailhead this way! Bring cash to tip your driver. The trail has a lot of loose gravel on it at the beginning and a good amount of shade. Compared to other trails, I felt that there was less signage - there are many offshoots for camping and sometimes it didn't feel clear which direction to go. But, it's a beautiful hike with lots of water along the route and some neat views of Lost Lake.

We went counter-clockwise (per advice on here), but as a result we saw the best sites of the trail during the first half of the hike, and had a rather dull, steady uphill climb to round out the loop. My suggestion would be to go clockwise to see the beautiful rocks, streams, etc. at the end. There wasn't much scrambling and it isn't very technical! We also saw a doe. A great intermediate hike!

We got to the trailhead at 6am and the lot was full, and there were a decent number of cars on the shoulder, but it was easy to find parking. The first 1.5-2 miles is relatively flat, but it's the last ~1 mile up is the most challenging (our pace was doubled for the last part). Make sure to bring sunglasses (when windy, the dust from the trail flies up), water, and layers! Not a ton of spots off trail for privacy, so recommend using the bathroom at the trailhead. We saw a few mountain goats too. An easy first 14er!

I thought this hike was fairly easy. Good if you have a dog. I got here around 8:40 on Sunday and finished by 10:15 - the lot was almost full, but not quite. Not buggy, good views, and interesting terrain (less the fire road of sorts). Bring water + sunscreen, and you'll be all set.
