Bill Watson reviewed Bartram Trail: Jones Gap to Whiterock Mountain

Absolutely awesome 5 miles with a first teaser view at Jones Knob, where you can see the cliffs of Whiterock Mtn. Then back down and onward, the trail is pretty level most of the way, then you come to a fork with the Bartram Trail and only .3 miles left to the top and cliffs of Whiterock Mtn. Make sure you go down to the end of the trail for the payoff. Take a picnic lunch. It's a great place for admiring the views. The trailhead has been corrected. Start at Jones Gap at the end of the gravel road at the small parking area and start uphill to the right. Highly recommended.

Cullasajah Falls trail is more of a straight downhill drainage ditch rather than a trail, but it did the trick. If you are careful with your footholds and handholds you can make it down safely. Once down at the bottom you can rock hop to some great photo ops. The climb back up is not easy either, so trail description should be moderate at least. Sun on the falls is best in later afternoon as the falls face west. Definitely a beautiful waterfall, especially up close and personal.

This is a great drive. While working with Anchorage Telephone Utility [now Alaska Communications since 1999], I was able to drive down the Seward Hwy from Anchorage to Girdwood and take the tram to the top of Mt. Alyeska where you can see seven glaciers. It was an awesome trip and next time will plan to go down Portage Glacier Road to the glacier, or continue all the way to Seward. The road was in good shape when I went and the sights along the Chugach Mtns and Turnagain Arm are truly big Alaska, the mountains go on forever and rise up right off the road. Amazing is all you can say.
