Great wildlife viewing opportunities. Boulders to explore. Sweeping vistas from atop Elk Mtn. Great hike.

Wear proper footwear and dress for the weather. Wonderful vistas. Longhorn cattle, bison, and elk. Lots of rocks too! Carry sufficient water (and drink often to prevent dehydration). Views of canyon and creek are impressive. Wildflowers were wonderful -- they seemed to blanket the entire area.

Hike to Twin Falls. Nice overlook constructed to give view of waterfalls. Trails mostly open and easy to follow. Large amount of storm debris alongside of trail. Excellent wildlife viewing potential. Daughter enjoyed the waterfall.

My daughter's favorite hike (due to the waterfalls). Trails well maintained. Overlook has sweeping views of the riverbed and falls. Easy to hike to the falls/rapids. Exercise caution during periods of rain as water levels can rise quickly. Great photo opportunities.

My favorite Texas hike thus far (even though it was not Fall). Combination of riparian areas and sweeping vistas from atop the ridgeline make this hike worth the work. Unique geologic formations and plant communities are worthy of exploration. Trails were well maintained and the park was not crowded (am certain it is crowded in the Fall). Bring plenty of water and proper footwear (you will need to protect your ankles on steep ascent and descent).

Coupled with Echo Canyon Trail to encompass Enchanted Rock. Trails well maintained but signage not always easily seen. Great views. Not as heavily travelled as the summit trail. Good opportunities for pics and wildlife viewing. Carry water and have proper footwear.

Perhaps one of the best hikes in central Alabama, especially in the Fall. Physiography is not what you would expect in this part of the state. Depending on which trails you choose, this hike can give you an excellent workout. Views of Lake Martin and the Tallapoosa River are outstanding. Wildlife is often seen early in the mornings. Be sure and use DEET in the summer months as ticks can be a problem on these trails.

Well maintained and used trails for hikers, runners, and mountain bikers. Kid and pet (on leash) friendly. Well done mix of trails to suit your taste. In summer months be prepared for insects. Easy and convenient to communities in the River Region.
