Heather Abbott reviewed Saddle Mountain Trail

Excellent trail with rewarding views at the summit. We went on a clear, sunny day and had views of St. Helens, Rainier, Adams and Mt. Hood. The trail can be very steep at times so I recommend you wear appropriate hiking shoes as well as trekking poles if you have them. I saw a few hikers with tennis shoes on and I think it's a bit dangerous to be honest.

Heather Abbott reviewed Horseshoe Ridge Trail to Zigzag Mountain Trail

As someone mentioned below, this hike is VERY desolate. We did not come across another hiker for the 4 hours we were hiking. There is still no foot bridge over Lost Creek so we crawled over a fallen tree that traverses the river. Unfortunately, we never made it to Zig Zag trail. About a mile from Zig Zag we encountered snow on Horseshoe and lost the trail. We did go off trail and climbed through the snow to get a quick glimpse of Mount Hood but turned back as we really didn't have the right supplies to trek through any additional snow. Be aware, the trail is NOT marked so be prepared to navigate with GPS, compass and trail map as needed if snow is still present; otherwise, the trail is pretty well worn.
