Haley P reviewed Marvine Loop Trail

Some of the most beautiful scenery in CO! We backpacked the full loop over three days in August hiking about 7 miles per day. Weather was perfect. We started the loop going counterclockwise and returned on East Marvine Trail.

There was plenty of the water on the trail, including streams, ponds and lakes, but we made sure to fill up at each opportunity. The trail is not well marked with sign posts except for a few locations, but is fairly easy to follow. Few horse trails branch off. There are also a good amount of stream/river crossings.

About half way out where you reach the top of the flat tops, the trail disappears completely in places and is only marked with cairns and post (but some have fallen down). Best to have a compass for this section to avoid walking the wrong direction. It helped immensely to have the AllTrails map too. Make sure you have plenty of water BEFORE you reach the flat tops as there is no water available for this section (in August) until you're back down the other side of the mountain - a good 4-5 miles.

A beautiful evening hike for nature photographers! You can catch the light just right on the falls close to sunset. Took us about 1.5 hours to get to the top and quicker coming down. Because we came at around 5:30 pm there was plenty of parking.

Beautiful hike to do in the summertime, the flowers were in full bloom! We did this loop over two days and one-night camping in the backcountry. It was strenuous, especially over two days, so pack well and be prepared. If I was to do the hike again I would take an extra two days for the whole loop. You also get to see the Grand Tetons and the familiar landscape from behind - a view that most visitors to the park don't get to see, so it's definitely rewarding! There is also plenty of water along the trail, so just remember to bring a water filter or chlorine tablets and you're good to go. Do it!

Awesome hike! Strenuous, steep incline until the Fern Canyon overlook. From Fern Canyon up to the top of Bear Peak is a very strenuous climb, stair-stepping on rocks to the top. The view is completely worth it! Feels like you can see the whole state from up there. Come prepared with a hat, lots of water, and snacks. Best on cool, cloudy day.

Great views of the canyons and red buttes as you walk through them! We enjoyed seeing so much of the landscape on this hike. And even saw mountain lion tracks!

This is a very short, easy hike, but it was great because there are signs that explain the geology, etc. of the region and you get to see dinosaur bones and fossils! We saw a lot of families with small children on it, but it was just my husband and I and we really enjoyed it.

Beautiful trail that winds through the desert and leads to several river overlooks! It was a perfect short hike for the evening once the temperatures cool off.
