Sears-Kay is an easy hike to the top of a small mesa / ridge line in the Tonto National Forest North of Scottsdale and nearby Cave Creek and Carefree. It is open year round and hikers of all skill level will enjoy this trek. It is a great place to bring people from out of town or that are new to hiking as there is easy access to the Hohokam Indian Ruins atop the mesa. Remember - This is an archaeological site and removing artifacts is a crime. The Hohokam Indian dwellings are very interesting and the views are breathtaking. Adjacent to the parking lot there are primitive bathrooms and picnic areas for day use. A Tonto Pass is required to enter this Fee-Use area.

For more info check the US Department of Agriculture Forest Department Web Site for Sears Kay - http://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/tonto/null/recarea?recid=35235&actid=119
