This hike was o.k. Definitely needs to have better signs. I hiked to the camping area and somehow came back out on a different trail. Lots of the trail is in old logging roads. The grass in the roads was rather tall which makes for uncomfortable hiking in shorts. It is a quiet hike with little traffic.

This trail is narrow with lots of rocks and roots but it is a fun hike. Boots are helpful but my wife and kids hiked it in shoes and had no problems. The waterfall is beautiful and definitely worth the hike. The descent to the falls is fairly steep and the rocks at the bottom are slick. We met a few people on the trail but it is not crowded like other trails in the Smokey Mountains. Overall a wonderful trail, one I would love to do again.

This is a wide (mostly), well maintained trail which is good because you will meet other people. As others mentioned there are three ridges to go over to get to the falls, so that means you get to go over them again to get back to the parking lot. Other than the three climbs the trail is fairly flat. There are some slick rocks as you get closer to the falls and a few small log bridges (with a handrail) that crosses other streams. It is a family friendly hike but make sure you take plenty of water and snacks. Also, you do want to get there early because it does get crowded. There is a good amount of parking and restrooms in the parking lot.
