The view from the top is better than Bald Mountain! But it is also muddier and buggier than Bald Mountain. It wasn’t terribly busy either; only encountered a few other hikers on a beautiful Saturday in May. The trail was marked far better than others in the area. You’ll have to be keen on your stepping on this trail. A short hike that can be done in the same day as Bald Mountain.

Gerri Dowling reviewed Bald Mountain (Rondaxe Fire Tower)

The trail was still muddy in parts mid-May. And much busier than we expected. Kids of all ages and many dogs too! The trail is short; beginning easy and turning to “moderate” with a mildly steep grade and rocks to balance along. My biggest issue was the detrimental lack of trail markers. You have to just go with the flow, so to speak. But the views are a big reward for such a short hike. Make sure you don’t hit your head climbing up the fire tower!

Gerri Dowling reviewed South Bubble Mountain and Jordan Pond Loop

MY FAVORITE!! It’s so much fun to scramble up the rocky incline of South Bubble (The Legendary Bubble Rock is still there...keeping looking for it at the top!) - come down North Bubble side for a less taxing descent. Jordan pond loop couldn’t be more beautiful ...

One of my absolute favorite hikes in Acadia. Short and rather easy, the views of Sand Beach are breathtaking. If you go at low tide, you can scramble down the cliffs and observe the tide pools below. A peaceful hike surprisingly absent of others!

Not for the faint of heart. Because HEIGHTS. ladder rungs, scrambling and narrow edges are most common features. You must be certain of your footing on this one. Completely worth the view though. However, not for dogs, inexperienced hikers or young children. And don’t come DOWN the beehive. You’ll make a mess of things.

Wonderful trail - even on busier weekends you can escape the noise.
