Lung and knee buster. But hey, we are part of the 50-ies crowd. We go at it steady and slow. Took us over 10 hours. Had 1 hour hammock time, a good 45 minutes at the top and 1/2 the time coming off the mountain compared to going up. I believe this trail is more to be considered a feather in our cap, than the most scenic one ever done. Had clouds moving in at the top, so very limited views. Came across butterflies, blackberry bushes, a few salamanders, bumblebees and lots of tourists in flip flops at the top. We enjoyed the heck out of this challenge!
Would recommend 2liters of water, hiking stick, and sturdy hiking boots. Enjoy the pain 

Great hike. We actually went to the Stinging Fork Falls and then continued on the CT (new addition finished in 1/2019), called the Soak Creek Trail. This section terminates at an old logging road (at times it looked more like a rocky creek bed). It comes out at the Piney River Trail parking area on Shut In Gap Rd.(big curve after the parking lot). This comes to approx. 7.6 mile total. Follows the Soak Creek for quite a bit (beautiful area with some evidence of flooding-sandy banks due to overflow). Found several places to string up the hammocks. Last bit of the trail had trash washed up as well. Really sad to see how people just ruin nature by leaving garbage behind. We found great info at cumberlandtrail.org. Parked one car at Piney and then drove to Stinging Fork...
