This hike was a pleasant surprise! I like the fact there there was a piece of history woven in! After you reach the remnants of the home (in which you really need to walk around what remains and read about it) and the small waterfall you continue up and around to get a nice view of the ocean /coastline this part really is what makes it a good hike as there’s a good amount of uphill hiking then as you descend you end up back where you parked. Nice workout and doesn’t take a lot of time! If you are in the Malibu/Santa Monica area you should definitely do this trail!

Just returned from camping at havasu falls
A couple of notes on the trip.... 1 pictures don't do it justice! 2. Hike in is as awesome as the falls the quiet stillness is awe inspiring 3 worst part is the deep sandy last 2 miles after village to camp ground .... just when your legs are cashed!
    3. Bathrooms were well cared for and always tp
    4. Fellow campers friendly 5. Moony falls is way closer to camping than I had expected
    6. Trek to bever creek is a must ... you feel like you are in a tropical jungle on way there
    7. The helicopter out Was the best 85.00 I've ever spent! It served two purposes... saved my legs from hiking out with a heavy pack and it was cool to see the trail from above ... really pretty!
Only draw back was our weather was a little cool and cloudy so swimming at falls was limited mid 70 days and high 40's night
    Overall a great trip!

Went to red rock canyon to do calico tanks trail but it was not open due to parking lot work
So did this short and very easy walk
    Took no time at all
Scenic drive in and around red rock with lots of smaller trails if you care to do several in one day
Short drive outside of Las Vegas
Area is well equipped with rest areas and bathrooms

Nice walking trail with a good view up top of the coast
I did it in flip flops no need for hiking shoes here

Good local hike for a workout that you don't have to spend an hour in the car to get to. Nice view of San Diego on a clear day. A lot of people doing their daily cardio with a friend or four legged friends
Not much to see going up but I think for a general "get outside instead of going to a gym hike" it's good.

Great hike, mostly a sandy trail downhill going in , all uphill coming out... in the heat the coming back up is tedious but doable. The waterfall is nice and you can go in the water. Not a lot if room down by falls but the hike is worth the time and effort
Like any hike in warm weather bring plenty of water and a little trail mix or healthy snack. In the heat coming back up can be very hot no shade!
And yes don't forget to acquire the permit and have your id 's for everyone hiking ,you have to stop and check in with a ranger signing and sign out
Overall I would recommend this moderate hike !

Challenging but well worth it! I am in good physical shape and in decent hiking shape not being accustomed to mid 80 degree temps yet as it's early May I was a little gassed by end but it was a great out of the way hike and waterfalls were amazing!
Hiking shoes, swimsuit, towel, plenty of water and a good spirit will get you through this great hike!
