Gail Slopianka Smith reviewed Sentinel Pass via Larch Valley Trail

Continued on from Larch Valley and did a bit of this. Beautiful hike and not too difficult as we didn't do the actual climb to the peak -- ran out of time.

Beautiful trail and easy to do if you start at the tea house and go to the fifth bridge. Pretty much flat - a few small easy hills. Out and back on same trail this way. Beautiful hike and great family hike.

Wow! Grueling!! Hardest uphill I've ever done. Took 2 hours and I'm a 51 yr old moderately active female. Took LOTS of breaks. GO EARLY and take lots of water. Views are amazing and from the top it's spectacular. You can do it! Just go very very slow. Walk down was beautiful but we were exhausted ☺

Beautiful hike - have done it several times and love it each time -- especially when you go off season! Went the end of May - weather was perfect and crowds were few. You especially lose the crowds when you continue to the upper falls which is a must!

Short hike - less than 2 hours to the top (and I'm a 51 yr old moderately active female ☺) but it's relentlessly uphill the whole way with few switchbacks -- the ones you get are very short. Be prepared for a grueling workout both up and down. Took 1.5 hrs to get down as well. Make sure your shoes have good grip! Highly recommend 2 walking sticks as well.

This was actually a loop trail we did snowshoeing in February. The trail was well packed and marked through thick forests. Either direction you go will be a good climb up with some level areas. The views at the summit were amazing. Beautiful forests and mountain views make this a great hike for people in fairly good shape!

Great easy/moderate hike! Beautiful hiking through the wooded forest. Keep going to Elephant Rocks - awesome! Then keep going to next lake. Beautiful larch trees in the fall.
    Great hike for families.

Great trail - beautiful scenery. Not so crowded with tourists. Easy family hike. One uphill near the beginning. Stick with the trails to the left going in as to keep uphill away from cliffs. We hiked past the second falls and tried to get to the third set but didn't find them. We turned back about 5.2 km in.

We've done this canyon several times, from hiking the whole canyon floor to climbing up to the highest peaks. It's a fun place to explore. Be sure to wear proper footware as the dirt and rocks are very loose and cannot be trusted to be stable. Also bring lots of water!

Have done this one twice and loved it twice! Beautiful trail, good uphills, several switchbacks through the forest. It is definitely not "easy" though - this rating should be changed to "moderate". Also can be quite crowded in the summer - lots of tourists. The views of Lake Louise are spectacular and Mirror Lake along the way is beautiful.
