Long hike, intermittent shade, some trail-finding, rock scrambling, river crossings, and 110% worth it! agree that the pools under thr bridge are great to swim in after being in the sun all day. my group, did actually see a group of bighorn sheep near the end.
im a naturalist so i dont like how people are installing park benches and digging up the riverside for flakes of gold, but still an experience in its own right.
parking is full at 7am in the summer. being later isnt bad if you dont mind walking the extra 1/4 mile to get to the trailhead. you miss thr bulk of the crowd that way

Starts at the parking area (paid parking.) The Abalone Cove Trail is the main trail but there are a couple of other trails that branch off. Super easy. Only things are that its rocky at the beach and little shade.
Though it is possible to get to the cave from this cove, the point is closed and so is the Cave Trail. You'd need to go in from the other side of Sacred Cove.
The tidepools are fun; interesting rock formations and even saw a sea slug and bunch of crabs.

No snow at all on the trail in May. Camped at the trail camp the night before. Beautiful campground with a creek running through it when I went. The falls are great too with a rope to help you climb in and out of the river at the base.
The hike to the falls was fine since it was downhill but the hike back up is a lot of elevation gain so make sure you're conditioned before attempting it.

Had a good time. Started at the parking lot right where Paseo del Mar splits off from Palos Verdes Blvd. There are a couple of ways to go down the bluff but I ended up taking the Drain Pipe way. This trail is hard only in the sense that getting down and back up the bluff is a shuffle and the whole trail is on rocks. Would def recommend taller hiking shoes for ankle support and cushy socks.
