Pretty chill hike, pack water if it’s summer bc it can get hella hot

More strenuous than I expected LOL. Nevertheless, made it to the top and loved the incredible views. I would say the trail is actually not that hard to follow, it’s pretty beat in. I was only confused trying to find the start of the hike —the beginning literally starts right next to the east entrance/exit. I’d say this is probably one of my favorite day hikes I have ever done.

I did this trail a few days ago, beautiful mountain and lake for sure! About halfway through the trail it does become mostly washed out so you can either turn around or troop through it like I did. The current isn't too strong and the water is mostly below the knee.. I think this part made the hike more fun!! :)

Incredible views. The switchbacks are numerous but if you are in average shape, you can make it to the top. I don't think the heigh factor is THAT big of a deal unless you are really, really afraid of heights. Just watch your footing, drink water & take breaks and this hike is FUN.

Downhill on the way there, a bit more of uphill walking on the way back. I love to go here for the view of El Cap... seriously such a cool place to look at el cap from. From Taft you can also see Yosemite falls and a huge drop of 3,000 feet below you. Show extreme caution around the cliff edges!!

the scenery is unbeatable and unforgettable and the hike itself, while uphill, is not crazy long so it's manageable. if you go in winter i'd recommend getting ice cleats or something to give your shoes more traction because this trail can get sketchy and super iced over in the winter time.

The uphill is a bit of a workout !! Mostly shaded and offers a cool overlook of the valley.

This is a pretty trail but when I went it had a lot of trash (be a Good Samaritan and pick some up peeps!!) The waterfall itself was smaller than I expected but it is still worth hiking to. This hike is a a decent uphill until you reach the trail head for the falls where it gets more downhill.

This trail feels like such an adventure. The flowing creek is ice cold and feels so nice to splash around in a bit. It's definitely a bit of a work out, but the beauty of the trees and the ocean makes it so worth it. Would definitely recommend this :)

This trail gets up close and personal with bridalveil falls and is easy and paved. It CAN get very icy in the winter though so be cautious of that.

This trail is beautiful but super inaccessible in the winter. I would not recommend trying to hike past inspiration point past October. It ended up feeling like I was following bear tracks with snow up to my knees. Lol. Nonetheless, it offers amazing views of the valley.

This hike is challenging, but you don't need to be a health goddess to be able to do it (although being in shape will really make this hike less exhausting.) If you want to train in advance, I would say your best bet is walking/running up stairs and hills. Make sure to bring gloves for the cables and hydrate beforehand. Water is SO important. To reduce backpack weight you can hike up to the top of Nevada Falls and refill and filter water there. I break this hike up into roughly five parts in my head:
-Mist trail up to Vernal Falls and Nevada falls: this part has a ton of stairs and is pretty difficult. Views off the waterfalls and the spray and the trail itself is so gorgeous.
-Meadow area after Nevada falls: This part is where the trail flattens and follows the Merced. It's a good rest after the mist trail. This is where I fill up my water.
-Huge long forested uphill walking: OW. It's beautiful but train!! your!! thighs!! and!! calves!! This part felt like the longest section of the hike.
-Subdome: Basically a ton of switchbacks with amazing views every time you stop to look behind you.
Cables: For me, the cables were a little scary at times, but if you remain calm and cooperate with the people around you it can be a fun experience. Physically, the cables are tiring, but the queue of people stops moving every few feet so you can rest. Tip! On the way down, walking down the cables backwards helps so much (even if it seems scarier at first.)

If you don't want to do it all in one go, camp at little Yosemite valley. I'd recommend taking the John Muir trail on the way down because it's less steep and easier on the joints.

The view of Half Dome was unlike anything I've seen. Incredible view of the valley and great view of Half Dome. Stop by Indian Arch if you have enough time; I didn't think it would be as cool as it was. The hike itself was steep and difficult at times, but if you are in good shape it's manageable.

Although the it says "accessible year round" this hike gets REALLY icy in the winter. Wouldn't suggest hiking unless you are well equipped. In my opinion, the view from inspiration point, though pretty, can be better seen from the wawona tunnel lookout.
