Started at 8 am on a Tuesday and the parking lot was surprisingly 1/2 full. Beautiful hike, tons of wild flowers. Definitely recommend doing it in summer and winter! We’ve snowshoed this trail in the winter and its always a great work out. Start early this is a pretty popular trail with high traffic

Hiked this last week. Only saw one other person on the way up until the trail met with the one coming from 4th of July trail head. This review is for the part of the trail starts at rainbow lakes TH- way less crowded but it does add 4 miles. The trail was well maintained. Long with pretty steady elevation gain. Mostly hiking above tree line with gorgeous views. Windy on the way up. Definitely recommend. We started at 7 and were down around 1. We did not do the scramble up north Arapahoe peak but did see plenty of people up there.

I love lake hikes! Did this on a week day took off from the trail head at 7 am. The first part of the hike is beautiful but super buggy- bring bug spray you’ll need it! After the ouzel lake split the trail opens up to views of Ouzel from above. I ran into two bull moose on the trail. I gave them time and space and let them mosey on down to the lake ~ 15 minutes worth. Then ran into a momma deer with two babies. It was probably the time of day, but be aware of the wild life. Made it to the lake and back in 5.5 hours. No snow on the trail, nice hike. Minimal people after the Ouzel lake split. Would consider a moderate hike.

Beautiful hike. No issues driving up to the coyote gulch in a small suv without 4WD. Someone had fixed a rope at the exit by jacob hamlin arch. I watched people climb up without rope. I used it and made it out just fine.

Hiked 3/12. Only used microspikes. No wind. Lots of people for a Monday hike. Nice views

Hiked 3/12. Only used microspikes for the entire hike. Someone has bolted a strap by the only sketchy part of the hike. Slid most of the way down on my coat. Definitely recommend if you are in shape for it. If you’re questioning it at the lock its best to not go up. It only gets steeper from there. If you take snowshoes make sure to also bring spikes for the sheet of ice you have to climb before glass lake

Did this hike today 2/28. Trail was packed down until about a half mile from the lake. You can use just boots, slick in some spots so I used micro spikes. The lake is completely covered in snow. You can snowboard down the majority of the way. Lots of tree cover.

Did this trail today. First mile can easily be done in just hiking boots, definitely need snow shoes the last half. Lost the trail, but headed up in the same general direction . Saw a few people on our way back.

Did this hike Thursday 1/25 in only microspikes. Beautiful lake, make sure to follow the trail around the boulder field instead of through.

Didn’t see a single person the entire hike. Used yak tracks intermittently. Only a few slick spots after the lake.
