Pretty hike which runs by a small creek. However, there are several things you should know before you go.

First, there are many creek crossings. None of them are too bad, but if you go after a rain, it could be tricky.

Second, you share the trail with horses, and in some places, they have really torn up the trail. Lots of muddy patches which stretch across the trail.

Third, the trail becomes less marked the further you go on. There was a turn we needed to make which was completely not obvious. We didn’t notice it until we were well up the wrong path. After that, the trail became much more overgrown and less maintained.

The falls are beautiful, and well-worth the short hike. However, the south branch trail doesn’t really seem to go anywhere. Also the signage directing people to the falls could be better. We had this app, but both groups we encountered on the south trail totally missed the left fork to the falls.

Fairly short trail but with a nice payoff at the end. The falls at the end are truly impressive and worth the hike. You are on a gravel road for about 0.75 miles and then another 0.7 to the falls. Kind of rocky at the end, so not good for folks with poor shoes or mobility issues. You are beside a roaring creek most of the way, so that makes for a lovely sound. You have to make one creek crossing, so if the water is running high, you may have to get a little wet to get across. We had no trouble crossing, and it had rained two days before.
