I enjoyed this walk very much. It was very muddy on the roped area down to the falls, the rope was quite muddy too. I could rinse my hands in the water at the bottom but wish i had something to clean my hands after climbing back up, just a bit of water and a napkin or something. Consider sticking something in your pocket. but it's definitely worth the climb down. I think this walk, even before the roped area would not accomodate a stroller, there's just too many roots. Had a great day!

I was there yesterday and the trails were quite icy with all of the snow we've received. However, I think I'd say it was a little more hazardous than the lake side of the highway. Other than that, it was a beautiful day in a beautiful park. I strolled both sides and it took me about an hour.

I really enjoyed this short but sweet walk. I'll definitely return in the summer to enjoy some of the little private beaches.

We completed Rawson Lake last year and came back to tackle Sarail Ridge.

It was insanely busy, even the amount of people going to the ridge was larger than anticipated.

The climb to the ridge was a bit of a scramble, the rocks underfoot were loose and there were quite a few people who slipped and fell. There were many people in basic running shoes but I would suggest ankle supporting hiking boots. I think the guys to twisted his ankle (in running shoes) coming down would agree.

The view from the top was worth it and I would do it again next summer!

Emily Willis reviewed Heart Mountain Horseshoe

We did the horseshoe loop here after reading a handful of reviews. Let me tell you, it was much harder then I anticipated, and we hike every weekend.

You'll want to go counter clockwise. the scramble going up was hard but I wouldn't want to be going down that.

If you don't feel cofortable with a hands on scramble (I'd even call it light bouldering) then I wouldn't suggest it. I was suprised when I saw a family with 3 boys (6-12) coming down it.

The map was handy but my phone died out. It took us 6 hours, granted we are a little slow. 5 should be expected though. Once we got to the peak of heart we were disappointed to see 2 more peaks. I'll be honest, we had a water problem and only had a litre between the 2 of us, so I was grumpy. We were exposed in the sun quite a bit so ensure you have water, a hat and sunscreen. I didn't have a bug issues. There was bear warning, bear poop spotted but no bear sighting.

we saw about 3 other hikers attempting the full loop so it was only lightly trafficked but I was happy to have someone around considering the difficulty.

Also there is a waterfall trail along the creek, if you don't feel solid in your hiking abilities (I'd call this an advanced scramble) then just go to the falls.

Emily Willis added I am mad at it.

Emily Willis reviewed Rawson Lake Trail

First hike of the year - Sunday, August 7 2016.

Bear sightings reported that day, we saw none. We did however, see approx 20 mountain goat on drive out.

We hiked to east side of Rawson Lake to about the start of the Sarrail Ridge assent, but ended our hike there after enjoying lunch. This took us approx 1 hour 30 minutes, it could probably be completed in 1 hour.

The trip down took approx 1 hour, 20 minutes.

There were about 20 other visitors passed on each assent and decent.

I would love to hike again and to attempt Sarrail Ridge.
