Emily S reviewed Emerald Lake Trail

Easy, short little hike, very popular, so there were lots of people. Well-maintained trails. You can clearly see why it’s named Emerald Lake based on the color of the water. Beautiful!

Continued here after hiking Bear Lake, Alberta Falls, Loch Lake, Timberline Falls, and Lake Haiyaha, so it was getting to be a busier time of day. Easy hike, trails very well maintained. Lake is beautiful! Love such clear waters!

Went to Lake Haiyaha after Timberline Falls. Had some decent inclines to traverse. The lake is pretty remote, requiring you to walk on boulders in order to gain access the the waterfront. I did get a bit turned around heading back, again, because you’re walking on boulders near the lake’s edge, there isn’t much of a trail to follow. Beautiful lake though!

This is a pretty tough trail, lots on inclines, but beautiful views. Definitely bring layers, as it got chilly with increased winds as you ascend. I was able to make it to the top of Timberline Falls, though the ice made it a bit precarious. Decided not to go to Sky Pond because I was concerned about coming back down with the ice.

Made it to the trail pretty early, so there weren’t too many people. Beautiful lake! Continued on to Timberline Falls afterwards, but did not make it to Sky Pond unfortunately. I definitely recommend dressing in layers.

Hiked to Alberta Falls from Bear Lake. Very well maintained trail. The falls themselves were decent. Continued on to Loch Vale and Timberline Falls afterwards.

This was a nice little walk around the lake. Quite the windy road to the trailhead. I was surprised at the amount of parking available at the trailhead. That being said, it is a very popular hike, and they even have to offer shuttle services during the day due to parking limitations. The path is very well maintained. Offered some great views!

I arrived early on a Wednesday morning (7AM) and there was only one other person. The park opens at 6AM, and before 8AM, you pay at the self-pay kiosk, before the attendant at the gate starts duty. Parking is very limited; only 13 spots at the trailhead. I was a bit surprised how small the park is. It’s directly off a winding country road. All that being said, the falls are beautiful. You can explore the falls from a variety of angles and the caves above. It’s a very easy hike. There’s just a bit of a commercial/tourist attraction vibe to it though.

Definitely recommend continuing the hike beyond Maroon Lake for additional sights. It is a rocky trail with some steeper inclines, and, I will admit, at one point I did get turned around on the trail. The trail is more heavily trafficked once the shuttles start dropping people off at 8:00AM. Even though Crater Lake was dry when I went, the autumn colors were fantastic!

This is a very popular photography interest point. I had researched ahead of time, and new to arrive very early. I arrived at the park at a bit after 6:30AM on a Tuesday morning, and I'm pretty sure I was able to secure one of the last available parking spots. After 8:00AM, it is required that you take a shuttle. The walk to the lake is very easy, mostly paved, and was very crowded at sunrise with photographers, who left shortly thereafter. I went in autumn, so the colors were amazing against the backdrop of the mountains, though it was a dry year, so the lake was a bit dehydrated. I'll give this trail a higher rating only because of the views, but I highly recommend continuing the hike to Crater Lake after.

Emily S reviewed Seven Falls to Inspiration Point

The walk to seven falls is very touristy. Parking has to be done off-site, with a shuttle taking you to the entrance gate and ticket booth at a cost of $14.50 per adult. They even offer a tram to take you the 0.8 miles from the entrance gate to the base of the falls, for an extra $2.00 fee. The walk to the falls is paved paths. Even the creek itself has had man-made modifications to it. It's a lot of stairs (224) going up to the top of the falls, with one very small landing area at the halfway point. A number of people stopped on the stairs to take breaks, which made traffic flow rather slow. The hike to inspiration point was far less commercialized and far less busy with a rather mild climb to the top. The view at the top of Inspiration Point, however, was great!

The Charlie Buckskin trail follows the main road for quite a ways, but it is away from a lot of the crowds in the central garden. It does offer a good opportunity to view wildlife and wildflowers.

The Palmer Trail and the Susan G. Bretag trail wrap around the outside of the park to offer some great distant views of the rock formations! Great opportunity to get away from the crowds.

The park opens early at 5AM, so I recommend getting there before the crowds so you can truly enjoy the rock formations, which are incredible!

I walked the Gold Camp Road that is closed to vehicles, leads to Seven Bridges Trail and St. Mary's Falls Trail. The parking lot at the trailhead had very limited space. The hike was decently busy, granted it was a weekend afternoon. It was a bit warm, with limited shade. Unfortunately, Tunnel 3 is closed, barred off from pedestrians. The hike did offer some very nice views though!

Short trail, mostly covered by stairs. There are some decent views up at the top with scenic viewpoints. There was little water when I was there, so there wasn't much action from the cascades.
