Awesome views, nice wildflower spread in the meadow area before the final climb, plus 3 very photogenic goats at the top! :)

A quick, but heart pumping hike! Good to fit in on your drive along the Gorge. Nothing really to see until you get to the top. Don't underestimate it like I did and wear Chacos! Going down it's too steep and lots of lose dirt and little rocks to slip on!

Dayhiked on 7/14. Pleasant trail, loved the lava section! Would rate as moderate, as no real strenuous parts. Completed in 5 hours, some slowness due to snow. The upper loop (after hitting the meadow area) still has a LOT of solid snow on the trail, mostly easy to walk on, but we lost the trail quite a few times.

Lovely spot, easy peasy access. Great for kids or picnics. Only comment is to wear chacos (or waterproof boots) as expect to get quite wet/muddy when hiking the currently swampy meadows side of the lake- but there are plenty of streams to clean your feet off before getting back to the car.

Nice 360 views of the area at the top. A good quickie option if you can't get further out of town.

Nice views at the top, but otherwise not terribly exciting, good to get heart pumping atleast.

Gorgeous first backpacking experience! Holiday weekend was crowded but not as bad as I expected. Spent first night at the upper lake, but it was just too hot so we moved down to the woodsy area for the next night- found a perfect spot in front of a waterfall! Much more enjoyable & cooler sleeping. Would recommend camping in any of the lower woods areas to keep cool and just day hike to lakes. The heat on those granite slabs and all day sun was unbearable! Very little shade spots at the lakes.

Would say this is a moderate-rated hike. The trail goes along the ridge overlooking the gorge. Nice wildflowers here and there and nice variety of falls within short distance . Go for a dip at the top of Triple Falls!

Started hike around 7:30am and only passed a handful of people en route up! On the way back it was much more crowded, so go early!!! Stunning lake.

A steady, continual climb but rewarded with lovely flowers and of course the gorge views. Nice to get a view of the Washington side also.

Nice as a quicker hike (& workout) to do on a mid-week evening! It's definitely not a trail for getting deep into the woods.. you can hear the cars from 89 the whole time and also was too overcrowded.

Loved this one, out first hike in Oregon! The first mile parallels 89, noisy! Once you get climbing, take the straight up veer to the left for root scrambling fun. Up, up, up.... a bit of climbing involved with great views of the river. And the top views are awesome! Very rocky in parts, would advise to leave the younger kids at home. We had fun!
