Pretty hike along the river and to the falls. 4 year old had no issues hiking as long as she held my hand on the wet rocks.

Great hike, like lots of others said, just watch your footing. My (newly) 4 year old hiked the whole trail, with me holding her hand for most of the uneven terrain but enough space for me to walk with her. My husband had our 2 year old in a backpack carrier. She did the flatter areas at the beginning and end by both bridges. Kids loved the little waterfalls and saw a newt.

Easy trail for those with young kids. My 3 year old did the entire trail without stopping. My 2 year old could have walked it if she wanted but chose the easy ride in and out in the backpack. Trail is well marked and taken care of. There are wooden bridges over the stream crossings and a nice set of stairs that leads down to the waterfall base. Be prepared to get your feet a little wet if you hike in sneakers and want to go to the base. The stairs let you out in the stream so if it is at all high you’ll have wet feet. Looks like the area would be prone to flash flooding so be mindful of the weather and conditions before going to the base.

Only did half of the trail because we had little ones with us (3 & 2). Great hike that follows a steam. A couple spots where we could let them wade in and cool off. I'm sure the rest of the trail is just as pleasant.

If you use the picnic tables in the parking lot area watch for poison ivy in the grasses overhanging the trails to/from the tables.

Closure signs posted all along the road and in all parking areas with information about a tragic flash flooding event. There are ongoing incident investigations to ensure the safety of visitors to the area.

The short trail right outside the Sugarland visitor center, nice when you have a few minutes to kill while waiting on friends/family inside the visitor center.

We weren't there for the azaleas which are supposed to be beautiful in the spring and well worth the hike. We were, however, there for the blueberry's in August and they were excellent! Most of the hike was within the forest so it was nice and cool in mid July.
