ry accessible and therefore very popular destination. Did a solo overnighter on a Friday night, mid July. Still a lot of snow and water on the trail following this years record snowfall. The upside is the lakes are full and there is running warer everywhere. The meadows are green & lush with every type of flora in abundance. There were only a few other campers on Friday night, no issues getting a permit or finding a premier site. Plenty of water to access around the lake for filtering and downed trees and fall are plentiful for easy firewood gathering. As a bonus the fishing was fantastic for both rainbow & brook trout. All in all a great trip, even as a solo. Give it a shot.

Great views of Morro Bay and the surrounding coastal communities. The trail warms up nicely then kicks up a bit steeper the 2nd mile but it's worth the effort for the view up top. Be prepared for a couple steep inclines with a lot of loose shale and rock. Trekking poles are a big help here. It's a great trail with a great reward once you reach the top. Don't think twice, do it!

Late February hike after a long winter of good rain in Central CA. The poppies and wildflowers were absolutely stunning!! We hiked up from the lake @ the Fine Gold Creek Rec area and hiked it to Big Bend just over 2.5 miles in. That 1st mile up the hill is not easy but once you crest the ridge it's a comfortable rolling walk. Lot's of people but I wouldn't call it crowded. We took a nice bread at Big Bend with a great view of the valley then worked our way back to the the starting point. We're planning on doing this again soon as the flowers should be just as amazing in 2017.

Great destination for a late summer day trip. Be warned the 1st half mile or so is probably the steepest part of the day. Great winding trail through the forest and winding along side a creek you will cross numerous time. Once you get to the high point of the day @ the Kaiser Wilderness sign the views are fantastic. To the southwest you look down on Huntington Lake and to your north and east is the Kaiser Wilderness. From this point it's a scamper down the trail that winds through the rocks to a small trail sign pointing you left to Twin Lakes. Both lakes are gorgeous high mountain lakes, Upper Twin the larger of the two has much more room for visitors. Good camp sights are available but it's a very doable day trip if you just want to hit the lakes and have lunch.
