Short little excursion, 4wd not needed. The road is bumpy in places. Neat little trip to check out if you are in the area.

Great little hike, went to his castle and to the nearby mine. Very pretty, wasn't as hot as I thought it would be. Signed the register and ate my lunch.

Great little canyon that can easily be looped into Ladder Canyon. Not as many people do this one due to the rope climbs

Diveworx Smith reviewed Vivian Creek Trail to San Gorgonio Summit

Great hike, we started at 545 and got to the summit at 1030. Enjoyed lunch at the summit and watched the clouds, it was windy so it was really cool watching the clouds break up around us. You get a great view of San Jacinto across the valley. The chipmunks at the summit are fearless, bring some trail mix and they will eat from your hands and sit right next to you while you both eat. We decided to go off trail and go to The Tarn and Dragon Head from the summit so this added a couple hours to our hike.

Started at 620 just before sunrise on the Devil's Slide, Tahquitz Rock looms over you and is an impressive sight. While on the Devil's Slide you are shielded from the sun by the mountain and under the cover of trees until the top of the slide at the junction. Suicide Rock and Tahquitz Rock are impressive sights and beg to be visited at later time. The trail continues gradually up through the forest until the next junction. At the next junction the topography changes somewhat and provides new features to admire and great views of the surrounding valleys and peaks. The Hut is unexpected sight that tells you, you are about to summit the mountain (.3 miles left). The boulder scramble to the top is marked somewhat by Cairn (small stacks of rocks), the summit is marked by a sign and the USGS medallion, the adjacent rock is the highest point so must be climbed (reached summit at 1000hrs). The views are incredible! The Salton Sea, is easily seen and looks impressive.....but San G is what catches your eye, it is the next summit to be climbed naturally, it begs you too. Hopefully my pics do it more justice, great hike.
