Beautiful shaded trail, creek and waterfalls are a nice treat. Currently closed.

Good view of Lake Tahoe in the distance, plenty of connecting trails including the TRT to make this a bit longer and more challenging.

Diondra Colquhoun reviewed Waterfall Trail and North Kings Loop

Short hike but I like to loop it around and take the old King’s Canyon Rd a bit on foot and then join the main waterfall big loop, turning it into about 5.5 miles. A bit of an incline up the old road and you’ll want to stay alert due to the 4 wheeling but it adds a nice workout to the otherwise short trail. The waterfalls are very nice, just stay out of the water, it’s the water source for Carson.

Nice views of the valleys, very well maintained, well marked with some interesting rock formations. There’s a ditch that’s mostly filled in and looks like it’s possibly an old mine shaft. Easy hike, not too tough at all.

There is quite a bit of elevation gain with this hike so I would really say this is more towards moderate than easy. Very well maintained trail, although the end just blends into the Sierra Canyon trail so keep going if you want! You will probably run into mountain bikers and a few other hikers. Great views of the valley and the 2nd half is shaded but the trail overall can be a little warm in the summer months so go early.

Diondra Colquhoun reviewed Marlette Lake Trail from Spooner Lake

Spent Black Friday doing this hike with very little other hikers. We encountered quite a bit more snow than we expected and should have brought snowshoes, so word to the wise, the snow is very deep in November. Nicely marked trail, beautiful views of Marlette Lake. Pack a lunch and enjoy the little peninsula that stretches out into the lake.

Nice easy hike, as with all hikes in this area it can get busy on weekends and during the summer. Don’t be surprised to see people hiking in flip flops. You do walk over large boulders so finding the trail in this section can be a little tricky, especially if there’s snow on the ground. Beautiful view of Cascade Lake and side view of Cascade Falls.

Great little hike, decent incline with a beautiful, clear blue lake at the end. Bring a picnic! Get here early or go mid week as it gets crowded and parking can be difficult. Make sure to park legally, they will tow you. Trail is marked well but the trails that link up from this trail can be hard to spot.

Great hike down to a not too busy section of Lake Tahoe. We love to bring a picnic and enjoy the day from this spot. The old party house is pretty neat, I can imagine all the Gatsby type parties that were thrown here back in the day. Getting back to the road is pretty steep so pack lightly.

Incredibly crowded trail, we even went late in the day and it felt like walking around Frontierland in Disneyland. Paths are paved and easily accessible for small children and strollers, virtually anyone. This is a heavily trafficked trail by a lot of non-hikers in jeans and loafers, not a lot of trail etiquette, so pack your patience. Views are nice but hard to enjoy. Swimming is not allowed even though several parents were allowing their kids to swim or bathe, not sure which.

There’s not a lot to say that hasn’t already been said, this trail is incredible but not for the faint of heart. Go early or late in the day to avoid the crowds, bring gloves with good grip for holding onto the chains on the rocks. If you do get scared, please move off the trail! There were several people that were clinging on to the chains, holding on for dear life, sitting on the ground in the middle of the walkways, making it very dangerous for the rest of us.

Excellent option if you like The Narrows, this is a much less populated water trail. Neoprene socks keep your feet warm in the cold creek water. First half of the hike is a bit exposed but the 2nd half is shaded in the narrow canyons.
