This is a easy but beautiful 2.2 mile up & back trail The sound of the stream is always heard and for 90% of the hike you can see it. The most difficult is the beginning section that had a 30 degree down slope and the same up slope at the end. This section is only about 30 yards and can be slippery. The trail is narrow but well maintained gained with a few clearings to rest and take in the great views all around. The trail is 95%-98% in the shade this time of year. Getting to the parking area is well described in the app. Will do it again with additional guests.

Not sure but recording on this trail was not running accurate. Entrance to trail appears to be where asphalt ends. Because it rained night before trail was spongey and slippery in spots. Hiking pole(s) would have helped today. Trail is wide and a downhill most of the was to the falls. After falls we returned the way we came. The falls after the rain was roaring and well worth the trip. The stairs down to the falls can be tricky so watch the kids, dogs and yourself

From Main Street you can walk between the Presbyterian Church & Chevron Gas Station and pick up trail to the beach. Journey down the staircase to beach. Easy trail you can walk to the head of river it along the beach West. Be aware of tide changes especially if you start walking to headlands. Many seals can be seen tracing down river near its month especially during out and slack tide.

This trail appears to be only marked at trail head which is at the END of the park road. Large parking lot. Trail is loose gravel and was very dusty the day we were on it. It is about 70% sun and mountain meadows but enough shade to cool you down. Trail was not marked beyond entrance but pretty obvious where the main trail is but there are many offshoot narrow footpaths going left and right. It is an slow uphill hike and after 45 minutes we turned around. Trail follows a beautiful stream uphill. I can see a maintenance road you could take back to the parking lot. No cell service (Verizon anyway so could not use app)

We did see a large gaggle of wild turkeys but other than sound of stream it's quiet. This was a Monday afternoon and only saw one runner & 2 campers the whole 1.5 hours we where there.

Easy paved walk from lot to bottom of falls. One trail for pedestrians & one for bikes ,etc. mostly all walking in shade except for bottom of falls in full sun. Be careful getting off & on route 197.

    The falls are outstanding.

Good trail to get your hiking rhythm back. Very easy trail and great for young children. Many people fishing at banks of the lake but the traffic during to week is light. Wooden walkways in areas that are wet or bogey. Crushed sandstone of the trails. Nice photography spots to catch Bald Mountain which towers over the lake.

This is a difficult trail in both incline and hard clay & rocky soil. It is an definite advantage to bring hiking poles and boots. The views are spectacular. Do not attempt if rainy weather is forecasted and the trail almost becomes impassable.

Visited early afternoon on a Monday and the campground lot was almost full. I would say it takes no more than 30 cars and 2 where left although people where headed down to the lot from their morning hike. FYI the dirt road leading to the campgrounds can get very bumpy so be careful and stick to the 15 mph limit. The trail head leaves from the lot and pretty much a very slow climb to the lake with the last part fairly steep with 3 switchbacks. Be careful if not crowded it's possible to take the wrong trail inside the switchbacks. We did (someone moved trail market rocks) and we went off trail: not good. The trip brings you to the lake or at this time year big pond..

I believe this trail is a moderate hike as the switchbacks are narrow and steep for trail shown on this app as "easy". I would not bring little ones unless they are tied to you in some fashion. Saw a few Mom's carrying their under 5's back down. Hiking poles suggested for us older hikers especially through switchbacks.

The hike with the above in mind is worth the trip. Small wildlife abound around the lake area.
