This trail isn't anywhere near Ghent or Norfolk. It's in Virginia beach. Says kayak and boat access but not true, maybe used to be but now now. You'd be dragging a kayak a long way to get to any water.
The trail when u first enter is beautiful. However after a cple minutes it's very unkept, you have a glimpse of the water from a nice size deck but that's about it. Walked in a circle on a small trail once you pass the deck, also unkept where you can see the backyards of surrounding homes.
Wonderful quiet place to sit on the water on the deck and read a book or enjoy peace and quiet but definitely not to 'hike'.

Cool hang out spot or great place to launch kayaks.
Parking is limited as it fills up pretty quickly on wknds. Over 150 parking spots are filled with people waiting by 11am. Seems like a locals meeting/social place to have drinks together as you lay on the rocks or swim in the Rapids but no one is rowdy or loud. This is a great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Whenever the water is over 5ft life jackets are required. Other then that there aren't many restrictions as to what you can and can't do.

I guess this is for Grandview Island in Hampton, Va.....
You will need shoes for the path to the very secluded beach as they have recently added new rock and it's quite a walk but worth it. Along the path you have beautiful views of grass and water and historical signs to educate you on the history or the land. The beach is so clean and wide and many beautiful seashells still intact. Beautiful sunsets here. Must be good for fishing too because lots of fisherman along the shore. Really cool mural on the wall where all that's left of the lighthouse is a pile of rocks with seating to sit and look out over the water.

Fell in love with this place today. Cool bridge suspended underneath the highway so you can cross the James river with spectacular views. Bustling with bikers/ hikers/ families/ dog walkers enjoying the outdoors. There is so much to see between the water views, old hydro plant, rock walls, mountain bike course (belle isle skills area), and the Hollywood cemetery. Great place to visit!
*Don't leave valuables in your car (obviously), there are periodic reports of break ins however the police were patrolling today which was good to see.

I actually really like this place because no one is ever here! There aren't really 'trails' to walk/hike but the landscape and history behind it is pretty cool. Love the secluded little beach at the end of the ramp where you can see the Jamestown ships on the horizon. Features Virginia's second oldest black walnut tree over 200 years old with a rope swing that you can play on. Great place to escape to for the day

Decent wide paths for walking, running, biking. Leads to a small beach which can get pretty packed out on the wknds, perfect on an off day.
Not a whole lot of wildlife along these trails as its so heavily trafficked, I think they stay away. If you can get past the visitors center opposite side of the beach then there's a ton of really old and ancient large turtles that will come up under the boardwalk

Nice trail. Lots of history to see. No shade really and if you wear sandals watch out for the sand spurs. Never crowded

I love this place. There are many, many secluded little seating areas you can hide out in and read a book or sit in peace where no one will ever find you. The gardens are beautifully manicured and colorful all year long. Great place to go for a run or a really, really long walk.
