Daniel Ortiz reviewed Big Bend Hot Springs Trail

Great way to unwind after a full day of hiking. Didn't really see the loop and just took it as an out and back trail to the hot spring. Some historical buildings along the way and pictographs as well. The trail we took to the hot spring was very muddy most of the way due to recent rain so consider than with your footwear. The unpaved road to get there is narrow and very bumpy at times. Not sure if a sedan would cut it but maybe if youre careful with the potholes. Nobody was there at 6pm when we arrived on labor day so that was perfect for relaxing.

Great hike to get you warmed up and ready for some of the longer trails available. Nice views of the surrounding peaks and window. A little more difficult than I had expected. I would say somewhere between easy and moderate. GPS has distance at 2.6 miles and took a little under 1 hour to complete.

Quick walk that gives you a taste of what the longer hikes have to offer. Nice views of the window but better ones can be had if you opt for a more difficult hike or possibly the patio of the restaurant.

Great hike with views from in the basin up towards the walls of the surrounding peaks. Spotted lots of wildlife on this trail including roadrunners, rattlesnake, and a bear. Another hiker said they spotted a golden eagle and I could hear something above but never saw it. Started from the bottom of the campground so that took some mileage off and the change in elevation is spread out over the whole hike so it never seems too tough. GPS has distance at 4.9 miles and took just over 1 hour each way.

Fantastic hike through the forested north side of casa grande. The guide said you only need to hike about a mile to get one of the best views in the park and I couldnt agree more. Ended up going all the way to the top and enjoyed the rest of the hike but the views didnt get much better since some rain showers and fog made visibility drop considerably. Took about 3 hours round trip. 2 hours up and 1 hour to come down. My GPS showed the distance as 5 miles total

There is a fee to enter but it is a nice hike through beautiful desert scenery. We hiked through a quarry/canyon and enjoyed great views of the surrounding mountains. This hike wasn’t too difficult aside from a few spots that required walking over some slick uneven rock that would break apart underfoot (maybe shale or slate) . Took our two dogs in the middle of the day in September which wasn’t a great idea although they loved modesta spring. I would recommend stopping after marker 13 and cutting back towards the visitor center for a more dog friendly walk in the heat of the day.

I only got about a half mile in before my dog wanted to turn back but it was really nice out there. It felt like we were just strolling through the woods. Signs are easy to follow but I didn’t see how it looped back. Maybe I just didn’t go far enough out to see the split.

Fun and easy trail with nice views at the top. The first mile is rocky so use caution if you've got stability issues like weak or sprained ankles.

The best views of Macchu Picchu are from Huayna Picchu in my opinion. However, this was an extremely challenging hike especially immediately after the Inca trail. Think climbing stairs for about an hour that are very narrow and steep. Worth it for the incredible views

Completed the trail with Llama path and had an amazing time. Highly recommend that group and capped it off by hiking up Huayna Picchu after exploring Macchu Picchu. Went right at the start of the rainy season but only get some light showers on one day.

Fantastic trail. Completed the first peak roundtrip in about 3.5 hours and this was taking a lot of breaks. Loads of stairs with some chains and ladders near the end to help get on top of the granite dome. Definitely worth the trip

Daniel Ortiz reviewed Haiku Stairs (Stairway To Heaven) from Kuneki St. [CLOSED]

Went on June 30th and had a blast. Arrived around 345am at the main gate and a guard had just pulled up and thwarted a small group of would be hikers. He told me the usual "trespassing...could get arrested" but I waited for him to leave and got in the gate without a problem. Took a wrong turn on the asphalt road that the stair guard is parked on so I was lost in the dark for about 20 minutes. Started the stairs at 430 and made it to the top by 6 with a couple of short stops at the platforms along the way. Sun rose around 530 and and by 615 there were too many clouds to see much at the top but it was an amazing view for about 15 minutes and once you're back below the clouds it's incredible. The guard by the stairs didn't get out on the way up, if anybody was in there, on the way down we all came as a group of about 15 and apologized for the trouble. He said he had to call the cops and we kept moving. Exited with a group of three through access point 3 this time and didn't have any issues. Amazing adventure and beautiful views.
