Great little hike... You can either stick to the gravel path, or use the woods. I prefer the woods so the dogs can run around a bit. In the woods, you can follow the Clark Trail up to Alan's Hill which has a great view above Shelburne Bay with Camel's Hump in the background. There's a couple great places for dogs to swim there as well. It's also a great place for a quick snowshoe outing in the winter.

Mt Moosalamoo is an OK trail... The summit itself didn't have any visibility around it. Pretty much a sign stating "this is this summit" in the woods at the top of the hill. Because of that, I think there's less traffic on that trail, and so the trail itself was a little bit in rougher shape and had lots of downed trees. HOWEVER, the lookout over Rattlesnake Cliff overlooking Lake Dunmore is fantastic! Sorry my panoramic pic didn't turn out... I wish I hiked up a day that wasn't overcast... that view has got to be stunning in the fall.

Warning! One of the trail markers towards the top is confusing between Mt Moosalamoo summit trial, Keewaydin trail, and Oak Ridge Trail. I made the mistake, and so did another couple I ran into... I started going down Keewaydin trail about .5 mi before I realized that it "didn't look right" and checked out the AllTrails App to see I was going down a different path, and had to backtrack. Oak Ridge Trail isn't on the park map you get from the park office, but it turns into Rattlesnake Cliff Trail which is on the park map... so if that's where you want to go, just take the Oak Ridge trail from that junction.

Overall, the best view was from the Rattlesnake Cliff... if you're going to the top, it's pretty much just to say "been there" and look at the sign in the woods.

Fantastic Hike! It's a bit of a challenge in a few places if you are bringing dogs. (I had to lift my dogs up in 2-3 places about 5-6 feet where they couldn't get up or down on their own.) The winds can be quite strong at the top.

Probably the best view in Vermont from the top, but you don't see much until you get past the timberline. Once you get past the timberline it's epic. I've hiked the Monroe trail in both summer, fall, and winter seasons and winter is my favorite because with cold temperatures, you don't have humidity obstructing any views and you can see unbelievable far in all directions. (I recommend something under your boots for better tracking in the winter to deal with ice.)

Fantastic view at the top. I recommend going on a day with low humidity so that you really see the mountain-line past Lake Champlain from the overlook.

Great hike with fantastic views. There are 2 trails to the top of the fire tower: a more direct route and a longer route. If you are taking dogs, I recommend taking the longer trail "Mt Elmore Trail" instead of the more direct route. (I tried to go down from the top with the more more direct route and got to a spot or two where it was too steep for my dogs (a 90lb lab and border collie), so we went back up and down the longer way which was no problem for them.) From the longer path you'll pass two great lookouts before the fire tower, the first to the East and Lake Elmore, and the second to the West.
