Hiked this late August with dog. Was a nice and easy hike with some great scenery that makes nice for photography. Little bit of running water at the falls. Definitely do again!

Great trail for running with dog (leashed). Did this at end of October when it starts to get too cold to go hiking up in Mountains. Need to watch out for mountain bikers but traffic wasn't bad on the particular day I went. Will definitely be doing it again!

Casual, easy going trail. Great for dogs who are well trained as it is a multi-use trail.

Nice view, but much too crowded with tour bus groups. And we went at 6am. Not a hike by any means. Just tourist hot spot.

Hiked on 9/27/14. Great hike. Stunning views. At junction of Isabelle Lake/Pawnee Pass, trail becomes exposed and much more rocky to the top. More photos of pawnee pass trail at http://www.ohnophoto.com/pawnee-pass/

Hiked this on 7/12/14 - 99% of snow has melted! Great hike with a nice finish at Shelf Lake. Beginning and end of the trail are rocky/steep and moderate - perhaps strenuous to some. Middle portion relatively flat as you are in valley. Great views once you get to the lake. For more images of the trail and lake, check out http://www.ohnophoto.com/shelf-lake/

Hiked on 7/4/14. Nice quiet hike. Crowds may be present at Hessie Trailhead, but once you are on King Lake Trail, traffic is very light. If you aren't able to get to the Hessie Trailhead via the 4WD road (through deep water), you end up clocking in about ~ 12miles. Only bummer is that most of trail is in valley under trees, until the last 3/4 of a mile, where trail steepens in final approach to lake. Once at the Lake, views are great. Spectacular 14er and definitely one of the easier ones. It also has one of the highest lakes in the country (11th) - Sloan Lake @12,920ft. One thing to note though is you will need a high clearance car to make it to upper most trailhead at American Basin. For more photos of Handies Peak, visit http://www.ohnophoto.com/handies-peak/
