Attempted to climb this today. Made it about 3 miles up and chickened out once the blizzard came in. It was very windy and the snow blowing into my face was slightly painful. The hike would've been doable if the weather was more favorable. I will definitely try to summit next time when the weather is better. There was another guy who was a beast who ran past me going up and ran past me going down. I give props to him.

Attempted to snowshoe this trail last weekend when the snowstorm hit. Did not make it to any of the lakes. It was too cold and there was no clear trail. My buddy and I got lost a couple times and had to make our own trail. Barely made it half way but I would attempt this on a better weather day. It was surreal and amazing though!

I would say this is a challenging hike. Took Mesa trail to Shadow Canyon Trail to Bear Peak. The first 1.5 mile or so was fairly easy until you got to Shadow Canyon Trail where it was pretty much vertical from there on out. Very rocky hike but definitely worth it. I felt very accomplished after this hike. I would recommend micro spikes during the winter. I didn't have any and slipped a few times. That was my fault for not having any. My GPS clocked in a little more than 10 miles round trip.

Great trail if you have friends or family visiting from out of town that are not acclimated to the altitude.

Unfortunately I didn't have snowshoes but I can see this being a really fun trail to ease into snowshoeing. I made it through with hiking boots but snowshoes would've helped.

Very nice hike with great scenery. Did a Little Rock scrambling at the end which was fun.

This was a quiet hike where I didn't see many people which can be nice some times. Not too strenuous.

A good hike that isn't too strenuous if you want to summit.

Completed this trail about a month ago. It was fairly easy with beautiful scenery. The day I went it was very windy and the lake was frozen. This is a hike I would definitely go on again.

Completed this trail today. Looks like nobody has snowshoed since the snowstorm. Got lost a few times and had to redirect ourselves until we found the trail again. It was a very VERY tough hike but it was worth it. As others have stated, you start off going down for about the first mile which made it strenuous going back up the last mile. Took us about 6 hours round trip but I am a slow snowshoer.
