This is a nice trail for a decent weekend walk. The paths are wide to accommodate bikes, so it makes it nice for dogs and strollers as well. During the spring and summer you can find many species of wildflower, but be sure to bring sunglasses for the few portions of uncovered trail. Be sure to make a restroom break before hitting the trail if you’re walking as there really aren’t any places to stop until you hit Tyson park. Same goes for places to throw away doggie bags. If you’re coming from the Bearden area be sure to go all the way to the end so you can enjoy the UT gardens. During the summer their are so many flowers to check out.

The major downside of this trail is the high traffic and the smell for the 3rd creek. Once you pass university commons and the creek widens it can be a little depressing to see all the trash, but with all the conservation efforts perhaps it will be a little cleaner in the future.

Overall it was a relaxing walk and a great way to enjoy some nature in the city.

Cody Cummings reviewed Vernal and Nevada Falls via the Panorama Trail

My wife and I hiked this trail in reverse from Glacier Point to Nevada Falls in July 2018. The Panorama Trail provides you with magnificent views along the entire trail. Be sure to bring extra water in the summer months, but if you have a filter, then there will be locations to refill bottles or bladders along the way. Bring some trekking poles as the switchbacks from Glacier down to illilouette falls is littered with large rocks and some sharp drop offs. I advise taking the reverse route as in and back, because you get some great early morning shots of Half Dome and all the falls, but in the evening when you return, you can watch the sun set on the face of Half Dome from glacier point. It will make for a very long day, but it's definitely worth the work. The trail is moderately trafficked, so be prepared to pass or be passed by other hikers, and expect to see others at the falls when arriving. There is an area between Nevada falls and Illilouette falls with some very large boulders that make for a great photo opportunity, so bring a camera! Have Fun

My wife and I took our two small dogs along this trail around noon in the summer of 2018. The trail offered a lot of shade in most spots and takes you along the river for the majority of the trail. We saw some small wildlife and some sign of other larger animals. Some parts of the trail had some loose ground, so be cautious in some areas with your footing. We had one small crossing where some backwater had made a mud hole, so if you have kids or small pets, be ready for toweling off at the car. There are fantastic views of the river from the two bridges and there are some small areas where you can wade out into the shallower sections if you can handle the cold water. During the spring and summer be on the lookout for ticks, and most of the trail is tightly bordered with ferns and small dense foliage. Overall it was brisk and relaxing walk with excellent scenery. In my opinion, I would definitely do this walk again in a different season to get some great photos.

The trail is a decent place to get in a couple miles in and makes for a relaxing scenic walk in some sections. Depending on what time of day, the trails can be fairly open.

Cody Cummings reviewed Appalachian Trail: Wayah Bald to Tellico Gap

We hiked this section the last weekend of April, and while the daytime temperatures were wonderful for hiking, the temps plummeted at night down to around 30°F. We hiked the trail to the telico bald and back tracked to a camp at Burningtown Gap. If the weather is windy, I would suggest either stopping at the shelter between telico and burningtown, or pass through the burningtown gap and head down to the camp pad with the water source at lick log gap. Since the fires hit this area in 2016, there’s not a lot of foliage yet, so bring some sunscreen. The majority of the hike from Wayah to burningtown is downhill, but you have to make a considerable climb to get to telico, so I suggest stopping for lunch at burningtown if you haven’t already.

This little park is great for a weekend trip. Whether you're interested in mountainbiking, hiking, swimming or hanging out with friends, this park has it all. The waterfall makes for a great place to relax, but if you're looking to get away from the crowd, follow the trails to the east and hike along the creek. Toward the back of the park, there are some large boulder/rock ponds with little micro beaches perfect for setting up a hammock and making a campfire. Summer is definitely the best time to go as the park will be much more vacant as the majority of the college students will be gone for the summer.
