Ciara Skye reviewed Lonesome Lake Trail

We're super slow hikers and this trail took us 3 hours from our camp at Lafayette Place. It's an incline for the first hour and a half and levels out around the lake. Big steps, maybe a scramble or two, but totally worth it. The view of the mountains from the lake was absolutely beautiful. Very chilly late September, so remember a jacket! :)

I did this trail back in April and it was one of my favorites, but I was super out of shape coming out of winter and it was surprisingly challenging. Granted, I didn't have the correct shoes on - don't bring tennis shoes!!

I recommend going counter clockwise on this trail... Not sure I would have been able to do it clockwise with how steep it gets at some points! Also, there were like 3 or 4 times I thought that the trail was finally descending and nearing the end, but it definitely wasn't.

But even with the trouble I had, it was worth it. The summits were breath taking. I will be back in the fall for the trees. :)

I absolutely LOVED this hike. Steady incline until the last 45 minutes-1 hour where you're scrambling pretty much constantly. There were tadpoles at the top when we went too! Super cool to see that. The views were amazing, but seeing the size of the Rocky summit was just as good too. Bug spray is a MUST though, I was being assaulted the entire time by bugs haha

We did this hike a few weeks ago and it was great, not too hard for someone like me with a desk job. ;) Saw lots of kids and dogs do this trail no problem as well. The views from the top were awesome! Everyone like a good view of the water, right? Definitely will be coming back to do this one in the fall for the leave change!

This isn't a difficult hike, but there are a couple of scrambles to get past. However, this hike has views pretty much immediately, so you're in awe the entire time. :)

This is a very easy trail for anyone looking for a nice stroll along the cliffs of Acadia! Totally worth the time if you're not looking for something strenuous.
