This trail is moderately difficult with the elevation gain at an already high altitude. It provides wonderful views of the dunes and ascends into a beautiful alpine meadow setting.

We walked up the dirt road because we were told that our Dodge Charger would not make it. It would have but the views were nice. To reach the falls, you have to balance yourself on a rock face just above flowing water which is ice cold. Eventually, you have to wade in the water which is like having an ice cream headache in your feet. The falls is in a cave so to speak and the constant mist provides a rainbow. This very short trail is for the young and agile, but not children as it would be very easy to slip and get injured.

Chuck Gaines reviewed High Dune Trail

This is perhaps the most difficult trail that I've ever done and I've hiked a lot in my fifty years! This is loose sand and sometimes one step forward takes you two steps back. I purchased sand goggles for this hike and was very glad because the wind was howling and the sand was blowing. That being said, the dunes, with their strange shapes and changing shadows were beautiful. The farther out you go, the fewer people. The view from the top of High Dune is awesome as is the feeling of achievement.

This is a fairly easy trail between near the visitor center and the campground. Although the views if the dunes are great, it is somewhat marred by the presence of roads and buildings in between. However, the dunes are really only accessible from the eastern side so this is understandable.

This is a wonderful little trail between the point and the visitor center. In addition to the scenery, I saw several Yellow Warblers and Baltimore Orioles. I walked it twice!

Just as described, this trail transverses several types of vegetation in a short distance. The turkey oaks on a sandy ridge and the cypress swamp could hardly be more different. This is a very easy morning walk and good for children.

This is a beautiful park with a lot of history--Indians, early settlers, slavery, etc. The springtime blossoms were awesome and the native animal presentation was wonderful. The only drawback is it was very crowded on a early spring Saturday.

This trail is STEEP! It is paved though. The hike up and down is the best part and the surrounding mountains made me think about the Alps. The cave tour is okay but in groups of sixteen come through every thirty minutes so there is not a lot of time for picture taking. Make very sure that you use all measures to protect bats from the white nose syndrome.

I combined this with Desert Voices. Sound of Silence had a lot of wildflowers that were extravagant, plus a lot of rabbits and lizards. This trail has lots of ups and downs and there is one place that I almost had to scramble. Beautiful place.

I combined this trail with the Sound of Silence trail. The scenery is spectacular and there are several signs that explain what you are seeing.

This hike is gorgeous with so many different colors of rock around every turn. It is steep at first but levels out. You only see the arch from a distance and the trail ends up over the arch. Bring more water than you think you will need. It is hot on a cool day.

Chuck Gaines reviewed Capitol Gorge Trail, Capitol Reef National Park

This is a very interesting and beautiful trail. The petroglyphs are a short walk from the parking lot and the pioneer registry is very cool although it would be easy to miss both. The climb to the tanks is steep and narrow. Bring plenty of water. The reflection of the sun on the floor and walls is like a microwave. We ended our hike at the tanks as this was 2.4 miles rt already.

Hickman Bridge is beautiful and the trail to get to it is just as spectacular. It is a nice short trail but a little crowded. The afternoon sun was bright and hot with little to no shade but it made for great photos.
