This road is currently closed to all traffic. We parked and walked as far as we could but were stopped by ranger who would not let us go further. The fire damage is light but apparently there are guard rails that need to be replaced. Should be reopened in the Spring.

One of my favorite hikes for variety, wildflowers and vista. Moderate difficulty and a gorgeous lake at the end.

Relatively easy scenic hike to an OK lake. The journey was much more enjoyable than the destination so we didn’t spend much time there.

Lovely early summer hike up a rocky steppe and along a rushing mountain stream, capped by a beautiful waterfall.

the most beautiful wildflower hike i’ve ever done anywhere in the world. Acres of lupine, angelica, corn flowers, paint brush, Jacobs Ladder, valerian, mariposa and more. Many reaching heights of 4’. The peak is now and it won’t last so go.

I hate to even write a review since this is a well-hidden treasure. Hardest part is finding parking, especially in the summer. If you can go by boat, that's good too.

This is a very easy jaunt through a variety of ecosystems surrounding Spooner lake. The trail is mostly flat and accommodates wheel chairs to strollers.

This is an exceptional hike on several counts. The scenery is epic on nearly every leg. You will not tire of the view even far from the top. The view from the very top is stunning as is the experience of seemingly sitting on top of the world. But this is a very tough hike unless you're quite fit and comfortable scaling steep terrain. Our GPS logged 15 miles and we went up the face, not the longer route. You need good hiking shoes, poles, and tons of water.

This is a beautiful hike in the Spring or Summer. It's long but moderate most of the way. I went with a group of friends which made it even more enjoyable as we were able to chat and rest as we wanted on the way up. The top rewards you with a small waterfall most years. Views are excellent.

Extraordinary hike that winds down to the water and back up around the rim. You should pack a lunch, stop to swim and give it a full day to enjoy. Parking is awful during the high tourist seasons so plan accordingly.

Wonderful, varied trail that never gets boring. We found two branches, one leading to the rocky side and a second leading to a quieter, broader view of the lake. The lower section is easily traversed by any level hiker. The middle section takes a bit more stamina and balance but rewards with a several spectacular views. The very top section is for advanced hikers, but you can get to the top of the rocks from either side.
