Christopher Freel reviewed Ouzel Falls Trail

Great trail and agree with other reviewers that you must walk/ climb through the trees to the left of the falls to see the Ouzel Falls which would be pretty easy to miss. I don't find the falls to be INCREDIBLE, but the trail was great and there are quite a few other water features along the way. We saw a moose just over a mile in! We were at the trailhead by 645am and there was plenty of parking.

Great hike! As others say it’s more challenging than some other “moderate” hikes with a decent amount of incline and rocky paths. Most of the challenge is front loaded, assuming you choose to start straight up Pigeon Hill (clockwise on this map). Also worth noting the visitors center with restrooms is about 3.5 miles in. It is on the more crowded side, so if being alone on the trail is your thing, then this one isn’t for you.

First time here and I’d say this is overall a moderate to easy trail. It’s very dog and kid friendly. There are multiple path options and trails are clear and well marked. There were bathrooms available at the start and at about the 4 mile mark at the visitors center (assuming you follow this map). The one thing worth noting is that there was no “wow” view, no massive visual award for trekking here. The lake had receded greatly when we visited. No complaints though. Enjoy!

Christopher Freel reviewed Sentinel Pass via Larch Valley Trail

Did this hike today with my 32 year old girlfriend and 35 year old lungs. Moderate to start, then hit switchbacks not that far in that are more challenging. The larch valley is gorgeous and the views of the 10 peaks are amazing. Steep ascent onto the Sentinel Pass at the end, with a narrow path covered in loose rock. Maybe sketchy if you have a fear of heights, but very easy to navigate overall.

There is a trail that leaves from the parking lot, near outdoor restrooms that walks up to the view. Climbing the large mound of rocks isn't necessary so don't make the same mistake I did! This view is spectacular and should not be missed.

Definitely a moderate trail, that is both a decent length and offers good elevation gain. I agree with many that this trail is not "easy" and should be "moderate". We started at 715am and encountered very few people. The way out was a bit more of a mess with very crowded walk ways, dogs, strollers and double lane walkers!

We attempted to do this today and were surprised to find that you have to pay to ride a gondola to the top of a mountain where the trail starts. That gondola has normal hours so if you want to go early you're out of luck. Many, many beautiful trails in the area for free that don't pose those same hurdles.
